I know who ripped up the flag in Salt Lake..... And he was definitely ripped w/ Jim Beam smuggled in from Colorado. He did feel bad about it once he sobered up though.

Its close to 90 pounds... 86 I believe. Carrying it around Germany is not a great idea. BabyAF (20X30) on the other hand is definetly making the trip!

BTW... since when is BAF1 a Sam's Army flag?

I think that's the shipping weight of the first BAF, but the flag itself was somewhere over 70 pounds.

It's possible that Monty's flag weighs more than Ed's.

The original Baby could fit inside a small duffel bag - I should know I bought the first one. ;)

I don't know how big or heavy the new Baby is folded up

For those who are new to the subject, the original "Big Ass Flag" which was renamed the Baby Big Ass Flag was retired to the National Soccer Hall of Fame after the 2002 World Cup.

They actually used the Baby at the Hall of Fame Game this summer

Any of the flags can go to Germany as long as they'll have someone with a rental car to courier them...probably don't want to be lugging them around on the trains.

Au Contraire, I think the Rattler, a BAF, and the 50-state makes
a splendid Triple Combo for the Final against England. :)

re: The District, my plan for the next cycle is to construct a 50-state
out of nylon and create a companion the same size featuring 50 other
flags that will incorporate DC, the Municipal City flag of every MLS market,
the best US historical flags, & flags of some of the more prominent Native
USian Nations (i.e. Cherokee, Sioux, Acoma, Jemez.) Only problem
with the companion is that some flags (like Conch Republic) i've never
been able to locate in nylon.

Well, that's one thing the current version of the 50-state provides.
If it's carefully folded, it fits in a standard rolling bag that will fit in
aircraft overhead bins of everything larger than RJ's and Fokkers.
It's a question of having a deployment team that will stomach the
logistics of carting around an extra suitcase.

I strongly recommend that, once it's figured out who is going,
some core constituents contact the Fed and seek help with
a credential and possibly ingress/egress privelges if at all possible.

I don't think any of our larger items should be sent over or shipped in
if the Fed says no chance of actually getting them deployed without
    significant pain or risk.

If the new Baby is as light, and packs as tightly as the original, than that flag isn't a problem.

In the past year US Soccer has been very helpful moving the BAF around.

I am sure Ed will be in touch with US Soccer, and who knows the logistics of them hauling around the BAF to the venues in Germany, but I would say it's a possibility. Carrying that thing from city to city is a job in and of itself, honestly it'd be a pain in the ass -- the thing is heavy as hell.

A good point. In line with post #34, we need the help of USSocer in determining what sections will be assigned to the US fans in each venue. Tickets won't be mailed out until late May, so we need info earlier to figure out the dimensions of our sections.

Not to sure about this one... when it gets shipped around inside the US
during qualifying, it goes in the Fed's 18-wheeler that takes all the signboards
and other crap around the country. I'm almost certain that when in-country
for a Mundial the Fed travels light because feefer will provide almost every
thing the fed normally has to move around for fixtures inside the US. And
what feefer or the germans won't provide, will likely be pre-staged days
if not weeks in advance. I would be shocked to learn the fed will have
any facility or capability to provide free intra-city freight in-country next
summer. What they *COULD* (not will for certain) help with is liaseing
with the Deutsch organizers to get selected Brethren proper credentials
and access for GAME DAY ingress/egress of large visuals. THAT in my
opinion is what should be requested of the Fed. I'll call Marsteller myself
or possibly we could talk Mead in to doing it since he's tuned up on that
    relationship.

I have to ship a bunch of my stuff to Spain via DHL in about two weeks time - that is a possibility, I'm not sure how much it will cost but I'm sure I would have 50 lbs worth of stuff in a box.

I met up with Ed and Dimitri from NJbrigade.com to watch the draw in NYC.
From my understanding they're definitely going to Germany along with a large contingent from Empire Supporters Club (Metros). Not sure which flag(s) they intend to bring, but they're definitely not going empty handed. Has anyone tried to contact Ed directly? I'll try to get a hold of Dimitri and let him know that BAF's attendance is being requested next summer.
