    The Under 18 national team, after the 3-0 success in a friendly against Serbia in September, returns to the pitch for an internship, from Monday 9th to Thursday 12th October, at the Olympic Preparation Center in Tirrenia (PI).

    There are 20 players called up by coach Daniele Franceschini, all born in 2006, who will undergo four training sessions in three days before concluding the meeting with a family friendly match against the Under 21 national team (time to be defined).

    The list of those called up

    Goalkeepers: Tommaso Martinelli (Fiorentina), Francesco Saverio Plaia (Spezia);
    Defenders: Alessandro Bassino (Juventus), Vittorio Magni (Milan), Filippo Pagnucco (Juventus), Gabriel Ramaj (Atalanta), Filippo Reale (Roma), Edoardo Sadotti (Fiorentina), Alessandro Ventre (Sampdoria);
    Midfielders: Francesco Crapisto (Juventus), Giacomo De Pieri (Inter), Gabriele Finocchiaro (Juventus), Leonardo Mendicino (Atalanta), Lorenzo Riccio (Atalanta);
    Forwards: Lorenzo Carfora (Benevento), Seydou Fini (Genoa), Federico Ragnoli Galli (Atalanta), Tommaso Ravaglioli (Bologna), Filippo Scotti (Milan), Matteo Spinaccè (Inter).

    USA Manager (sorry, cannot use USMNT) Berhalter on Luca Koleosho:

    “I’ve had conversations with Luca, we are in communication. He’s also been with Italy U-19. He’s also eligible for Canada and Nigeria. What I’d say is he’s a great guy. He’s doing a great job at Burnley. I’m really happy that he came into the team and was able to get a starting spot right away, it shows what type of worker he is and how quickly he can adapt.

    In terms of a decision [on his international future] or in terms of a final outcome, that’s TBD. But we’ll keep you posted on that"

    Vincent Kompany at Burnley:

    Burnley head coach Vincent Kompany said last month that he wasn’t necessarily planning on starting Koleosho every game, but the teenager has impressed so much that he’s been impossible to leave out of his lineup.

    We didn’t force it, there was no reason for us to put him ahead of anyone else other than his performances in training and in games,” Kompany said.

    “The exciting thing is he’s only just turned 19. We’re not going to build our season around a 19-year-old player but if he’s performing like he is we’re not going to take him off his momentum as well.”

    I know Italy are comfortable in their own skin and don't grovel to players to play for them but this one time they might consider making an exception and Cap-tying Koleosho.

    Italy and USA are in different Confederations so Koleosho directly hurting Italy would be low odds as they rarely play in competitive fixtures but I recall Spain born and trained Hakimi score the final spot kick when Morocco eliminated Spain in Qatar.

    la decisione delle convocazione dipende dal CT non dai tifosi, di sicuro anche la FIGC è in contatto con il ragazzo, tra l'altro mi ricordo che anche per Cristante c'era il manger del Canada (uno spagnolo) che diceva che ci stava lavorando e invece sappiamo tutti sappiamo come è finita

    the decision on the call-up depends on the coach, not on the fans, certainly the FIGC is also in contact with the boy, among other things I remember that the Canadian manager (a Spaniard) was also there for Cristante who said he was working on it and yet we all know how it ended

    Il prossimo è un Mondiale Americano. Se non verrà convocato entro Euro 2024 (giugno/luglio) vorrà giocare nel 2026.

    After the draw obtained in Germany and the victory in the Czech Republic, the National Under 20 team is ready for their first home match in the Elite League. On Friday 13 October at 6pm, at the 'Nicola Ceravolo' stadium in Catanzaro (live figc.it), the Azzurrini will face Poland with whom they share the lead (with 4 points) in the standings of the tournament in which eight national teams take part. Coach Alberto Bollini has called up 22 players, who will gather on Monday 9th in Lamezia Terme and will have their first training session in the afternoon.

    It will be the first time for the Under 20s in the Calabrian city; the national youth teams, however, return to Catanzaro six years after the Under 17 double friendly match against the Czech Republic (played at the Federal Territorial Centre). The Under 21s have also played at the 'Ceravolo' in its history, the last time in 2003, beating Azerbaijan 6-0 in a match in the qualifying round for the European Championship thanks to a brace from Gilardino and goals from Zaccardo, Gasbarroni, D'Agostino and Borriello.

    The list of those called up

    Goalkeepers: Davide Mastrantonio (Monterosi Tuscia), Lorenzo Palmisani (Olbia);
    Defenders: Tommaso Barbieri (Pisa), Tommaso Corazza (Bologna), Alessandro Dellavalle (Turin), Alessandro Fontanarosa (Cosenza), Filippo Missori (Sassuolo), Iacopo Regonesi (Atalanta), Alessandro Pio Riccio (Modena), Filippo Terracciano (Verona) ;
    Midfielders: Lorenzo Amatucci (Fiorentina), Giacomo Faticanti (Lecce), Samuel Giovane (Ascoli), Luis Hasa (Juventus), Lorenzo Ignacchiti (Pontedera), Riccardo Pagano (Roma), Niccolò Pisilli (Roma)
    Forwards: Federico Accornero (Pescara), Luca D'Andrea (Catanzaro), Daniele Montevago (Gubbio), Antonio Raimondo (Ternana), Nicolò Turco (Liefering)

    Goalkeeper Filippo Rinaldi (Olbia), midfielder Alessandro Bianco (Reggiana) and striker Luca Koleosho (Burnley) are the new players in Carmine Nunziata's squad list for Italy-Norway, a match valid for the 2025 European Championship qualifiers and scheduled for Tuesday 17 October at 5.45pm at the 'Druso' stadium in Bolzano. After the two away games in Latvia and Turkey - with Italy having achieved a draw and a victory - the Azzurrini are therefore preparing for their home debut in an already very important match, considering that the Norwegians of the same age have won six points in their first two matches, scoring 14 goals without conceding.

    Italy will meet on the evening of Sunday 8th at the Olympic Preparation Center in Tirrenia and, the following morning, will carry out their first training session. A friendly match against the Under 18 national team, who are also involved in an internship, is scheduled for the afternoon of Thursday 12th. Finally, departure for Alto Adige is scheduled for Sunday 15th. It will be the first appearance of the Under 21s in Bolzano, a city that has already hosted a match for the Under 18 national team (Italy-Germany in February 2002) and two for the women's national team: the first against Austria in December 1983, the second against Germany in March 2004.

    However, there are nine precedents at Under 21 level between Italy and Norway, the last of which in June in Cluj (Romania) in the final phase of the European Championship, with the Norwegian success (1-0) which established the elimination of Italy from the competition. The overall balance is four Italian victories, three draws and two Norwegian successes.

    The list of those called up

    Goalkeepers: Sebastiano Desplanches (Palermo), Filippo Rinaldi (Olbia), Gioele Zacchi (Giana Erminio)
    Defenders: Riccardo Calafiori (Bologna), Diego Coppola (Verona), Daniele Ghilardi (Sampdoria), Gabriele Guarino (Empoli), Michael Olabode Kayode (Fiorentina), Lorenzo Pirola (Salernitana), Matteo Ruggeri (Atalanta), Riccardo Turicchia (Juventus) , Mattia Zanotti (Sankt Gallen)
    Midfielders: Tommaso Baldanzi (Empoli), Alessandro Bianco (Reggiana), Edoardo Bove (Roma), Cesare Casadei (Leicester), Giovanni Fabbian (Bologna), Jacopo Fazzini (Empoli), Fabio Miretti (Juventus), Cher Ndour (Paris Saint Germain ), Matteo Prati (Cagliari)
    Forwards: Lorenzo Colombo (Monza), Francesco Pio Esposito (Spezia), Luca Koleosho (Burnley) Marco Nasti (Bari), Gaetano Pio Oristanio (Cagliari)

    io penso che fino ai 23 anni Koleosho resterà nel sistema calcio italiano e se non riuscirà ad entrare in nazionale maggiore per quella data solo allora considerera di passare agli USA, adesso è stato addirittura convocato in U21 sott'età (questo è il biennio 2002/2003) ed è addirittura in quota per le prossime olimpiadi che si terrano nel 2028 e l'U21è il torneo giovanile più prestigioso in Europa, sempre poi che Spalletti non gli faccia giocare qualche amichevole o la Nation League (che valgono per il calcolo del Cap-Tied), ripeto se è bravo il posto in nazinale lo giuadagna tranquillamente se non lo è oppure c'è qualcuno meglio di lui allora non verrà convocato, tutto molto semplice.

    1) Penso che prima fosse così, ma attualmente un'amichevole NON determina il Cap Tie di un giocatore. E' così da almeno 14 anni. Competitve fixture.

    2) Allora, se rischia di perde il giocatore se lui vuole adarsene al Mondiale.

    1) sembrerebbe che prima dei 21 anni BASTANO 3 CONVOCAZIONI SIA PARTITE UFFICIALI CHE NO
    https://www.calcioefinanza.it/2020/09/23/regole-convocazioni-nazionali/

    (articolo in italiano, ma mi sembra che tu capisci abbastanza bene l'italiano ;) Comunque anche se così non fosse c'è la Nation League )
    2) a questo punto dipende dal giocatore e sulla volontà del giocatori uno non può farci niente nessuno, MA ALLO STATO ATTUALE AL GIOCATORE STA BENE COSI'

    Samuele Vignato has scored his first goal in 'A' today.

    Vignato was an integral part of the victorious U19 team from June, 2023. Especially in the SF versus Spain.

    Yet another player with dual citizenship as he waa born in Italy to an Italian father and Brazilian mother.

    In the event there is lack of clarity for some, it wasn't from a coming together. It was a punch by Nasti.

    Glad he was sent home.

    Ruggieri was coming along nicely and I tuned into some Atalanta matches just for him. Wonder if he misses time.

    1-0 win for the U20's vs Polonia.

    Terraciano with the goal. Probably should have / could have scored at least a few more.

    Rivincita contro la Serbia U19 (lo scorso mercoledì avevamo perso 5-4) per 3-1 con doppietta di Pafundi e goal Alphadjo Cisse (entrambi 2006). Spero di trovare qualche video degli highlight , ma temo che sarà dura.

    Question:

    In this era of fielding professional athletes at the Olympics, what right does the International Olympic committee and/or FIFA have in keeping Football at the Olympic tournament strictly an Under 23 competition?

    Why not just bring it back to fielding players who haven’t played at a World Cup?

    For starters, it’s outdated and secondly, they are violating all laws by doing this and I don’t know how much longer either FIFA or the International Olympic Committee can continue to put forth such a restrictive competition.
