    I hope Ciammaglichella makes it to the National Team someday so we can hear the English announcers struggle trying to pronounce it properly.

    The Under 17 national team led by Bernardo Corradi face the Iberian players of the same age. The friendly match will be played in Coverciano on Wednesday 25 January at 2.30 pm and will be broadcast live on the FIGC website. For the occasion, the Azzurro coach has called up 20 players, all born in 2006 except for the two defenders Matteo Cocchi and Francesco Verde, born in 2007, with Inter and Juventus respectively. The rally will begin on Sunday evening to finish on race day. First call-up to this national team of Lorenzo Tosto, defender of Empoli, a new resource coming from the selection made with the Tournament of the Groups last November at the Villaggio Azzurro in Novarello.

    The one with the little red furies represents an absolutely probative test in view of the elite phase of the European category championship scheduled from 7 to 13 March against the hosts of Cyprus, the Republic of Ireland and Ukraine, all group matches 6 which will give the top two classified the passage to the final stages of the continental tournament in Hungary next May. Italy earned access to the elite round with flying colors, winning the three matches in group 8 of the first round last October against Kosovo (5-2), Finland (4-0) and Greece (2-0).

    Call-up list

    Goalkeepers: Francesco Tommasi (Inter), Francesco Plaia (Spezia);

    Defenders: Matteo Cocchi (Inter), Fabio De Sole (Turin), Vittorio Magni (Milan), Filippo Pagnucco (Juventus), Lorenzo Tosto (Empoli), Alessandro Ventre (Juventus), Francesco Verde (Juventus);

    Midfielders: Francesco Crapisto (Juventus), Andrea Bonanomi (Atalanta), Gabriele Finocchiaro (Juventus), Mattia Mannini (Roma), Leonardo Mendicino (Atalanta), Lorenzo Riccio (Atalanta), Marco Romano (Genoa);

    Forwards: Giacomo De Pieri (Inter), Emanuele Rao (Spal), Tommaso Ravaglioli (Bologna), Filippo Scotti (Milan).

    Last month FIFA announced that it is going to make the U17WC an annual competition within the next year or two and expand it to include 48 teams, so I expect UEFA will make changes to the format of the U17 EURO if Europe is given more places, although I think - like with the senior WC - most of the new places will go to the other confederations.

    Can't wait for the epic last fixture where we will need a heroic effort by our boys at Latvia to just edge out Turkey for the group (in a group we should win with ease).

    We typically do not struggle to qualify for the Under 21's. Our senior team however...

    I know. I was just making a joke about how we unnecessarily make things difficult historically.

    I googled him yesterday and apparently he was eligible for 4 national teams through his parents lineage. Good on the FIGC to get the first shot if he indeed does become something.

    Meanwhile, Italy U17 drew 2-2 against the Republic of Ireland, looking from the Uefa livescore the 1st half was disastrous down by 2-0 (even with an own goal) with the Irish also hitting a post, while in the second half we went to the assault and we managed to equalize with Ravaglioli (on Penalty) and with Mannini (assist from Liberali), the next match is against Cyprus on March 10th and there will be live broadcast at 2.00 pm

    Italy U17 finishes in 2nd place in its group of the Elite phase of Euro U17 on goal difference after a 2-2 draw against Eire and after two victories against Cyprus (2-1) and Ukraine (3-0) and most likely he will qualify for the final phase of Euro U17 (the best seven who arrive at the
    second place out of eight groups)
    The best performances were Ravaglioli (3 goals in 2 games) and Liberali (1 goal and 2 assists in 55 minutes played in 3 games)

    Rep Ireland are a difficult opponent in NT youth competitions; Italy will meet them again in the 2025 U21 EURO qualifiers.

    This year's U17 EURO is particularly important because it serves as the UEFA qualifier for the U17WC in November.

    from how it was described on the FIGC website the first half was disastrous, from the second instead we started charging and at the end of the game we risked winning it. However we are pretty much qualified because out of eight groups the best seven runners-up qualify, so as long as someone does worse than us to allow us to qualify, I hope that Pafundi will be available for the U17 European Championship (he has now been sent to the pre-phase training camp for the phase Elite U19 where we are in a very difficult group with Germany, Belgium and Slovenia and there only the first qualifies for the final phase)
