I mean Italy are dark horses for EURO 2021 I can give you guys that and in the last Euros you guys went out in the last 8 in the quarter finals against Germany...but I bet you guys definitely wanna make a statement especially after you missed out on Russia 2018
Does anyone have any news on Verratti’s knee injury? Separately, if I don’t see you numbskulls start puttin’ some respect on Raspadori’s name, I will make it my personal vocation to blast every Azzurri forum with his name until it’s written across your foreheads.
Well my Italy final 23 man squad for EURO 2021 would look like this: Starting 11 (4-3-3) GK- Donnarumma LB- Spinazzola CB- Bonucci (captain) CB- Acerbi RB- Di Lorenzo CDM- Verrati LCM- Pellegrini RCM- Lazzari LW- Insigne CF- Immobile RW- Chiesa Bench GK- Sirigu, Meret LB- Emerson CB- Gianluca Mancini, Bastoni, Toloi DM- Locatelli CM- Sensi, Barella LW- Grifo CF- Belotti RW- Bernardeschi
We have good news! Verratti should be back in shape in around three weeks! So he should be ok when Euros starts! Let’s hope this is the case because he is very important! Does anyone know anything about Spinazzola’s injury? I have read that he should be back too in time!
There should be no starting 11 without Barella. He's probably the first pick on any Azzurri team right now. I also think people are sleeping on Pessina. He has a very good shot at making the squad even before Verratti's injury. I doubt Grifo goes over Kean or Berna. I also think Mancini will probably take Chiellini as the fifth CB over Toloi. Verratti's injury is worse than first reports suggested. He will now miss 4-6 weeks with ligament damage. Mancini has to make some tough decisions.
Yes, unfortunately new tests show that Verratti has a partially torn ACL in his right knee! This is very bad guys! He really risks missing Euros! The injury happened during training! What a bad luck! He also missed Euro 2016! I believe that Mancini will try till the end to have him back, even for the later stages assuming we go a long road! I believe he will take this risk as we can take 3 more players this time!
out of any player.. i'd argue losing Verratti is the least impactful. Sensi, Locatelli, Pellegrini, Pessina, etc etc etc we have lots of quality depth in the mid. Updated Starting XI prediction as of today: Insigne - Belotti - Chiesa Sensi - Jorginho - Barella Spinazzola - Bastoni - Bonucci - Florenzi GIGIO If Spinazzola isn't fit to go... it will likely be Emerson.. but i really believe Federico Di Marco should be given a shot. he's had a fantastic season for Hellas Verona and is a left footed set piece specialist.
I agree we do have many quality options in midfield! However, I still believe Verratti has something different to add! I hope he can play at knockout stage where experience matters more! Yesterday I read that Spinazzola is not yet ready. I think he will be back until then! He is very important on the left side! I worry about him because he is very injury-prone! A few days ago Gazzetta had an article saying which 44 players are going to be vaccinated. These are the players that Mancini has in his mind! Players such Di Marco, Lazzari,Soriano, Politano, Raspadori etc are not included in that list! https://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Nazi...lte-mancini-l-europeo-2021-410702241827.shtml
Well my updated Final 23 man squad now after really re examining things Starting XI (4-4-2 instead) GK- Donnarumma LB- Emerson CB- Bonucci (captain) CB- Bastoni RB- Di Lorenzo CM- Barella CM- Pellegrini DM- Locatelli CAM- Pessina CF- Insigne CF- Immobile Bench GK- Meret, Cragno CB- Mancini, Ferrari, Chiellini DM- Mandragora CM- Sensi, Castrovilli RM- Lazzari LW- Kean, Chiesa CF- Belotti
https://app.football-italia.net/?re...t#article/footballitalia-170801&menu=news-all RASPADORI selected in Mancini’s provisional 33-man squad. Unfortunately, as expected, Bernardeschi (who hasn’t seen the field in a month for Juventus) is also on the list taking up space.
the other great news is Verratti and Spinazzola both listed on there... must mean they should be good to go for the euros. i have no problem with Bernardeschi being selected especially with expanded squads. He's the anti-immobile. Does nothing for club.. but hes actually performed well for the nazionale. just goes to show maybe he's only good in a 4-3-3 which fortunately we play on the NT. But .. do think Politano should be given a look and potentially taken over Berna when its all said and done as he's been more in form.
Roberto Mancini renewed until after the 2026 WC. Roberto Mancini: Italy manager extends contract until June 2026
Training for the Euros start at Coverciano on May 24th.... There is absolutley no time between the end of the Serie A season and the start of the Euros. I hope these guys aren't too tired to compete.
Gigi Buffon announced that he won't retire even though he is leaving Juve again. I also read he wants to play for Italy again! I know he is old but you know , when it comes down to it , I trust Buffon at GK a lot more than Donnarumma. Even at 43 years of age.
I'd rather take my chances with a wacky inflatable man over Buffon, he's pretty average at best these days.
Here’s my best guess at the 26: GK Donnarumma Sirigu Cragno CB Bonucci Cheillini Acerbi Bastoni Mancini RB Florenzi Di Lorenzo LB Spinazolla Emerson CM Jorginho Verratti Barella Pellegrini Sensi Pessina Locatelli Wing Chiesa Insigne Kean Bernadeschi (somehow) Berardi CF Immobile Belotti Id probably take politano and DiMarco, but I’m a dipshit. Mancini is a nice piece as he can legit play as a holding midfielder in the unlikely event that is needed. crazy for Italy, but CB is legit the weakest point id say. *replacing griffo with Berardi
Out of this 26 the 3 players I would drop in order for it to be a Final 23, would be: Mancini, Berardi and Locatelli
LOL Locatelli and Berardi are locks to make the team... and may even start some games. no chance at that
Would have loved to see Di Marco on the team after the season he had. 5 goals... and is a great passer from the back. But sadly don't think he's making it as he has not been included in the provisional squad for the friendly. Politano i think will make it over Berna
Italy for me have to be considered dark horses for EURO and honestly after missing out on Russia 2018, you guys wanna make a statement here in this tournament by not only going far but winning it all. But the last time Italy won a EURO was 1968. 53 years. I would say you guys are not just due but overdue to win a EURO. I mean you have the right man in charge to lead you guys in Roberto Mancini. Always loved him as a manager for Man City and to see him lead Italy, I just cannot wait to see how he does here as Italy manager. After the failure of the Russia 2018 qualifying campaign, I would say either going far in this EURO or even winning it all will instill faith back into Italian soccer.
I’m thinking SF is reasonable for this tournament. Get some experience.. recover an injured Zaniolo and win the wc in 2022
