Well, at this point I'd like to see Japan score again and win 2-0 so no one can say the ref cost Australia the match or they got screwed or anything.

Either that or Australia scores 2 goals so that goal doesn't matter anyways. I just don't want it to end in a draw or a 1 goal Japan victory... but since I doubt Australia can score twice, I'd rather see Japan get the second.

 

Anyone else have a lag on Davis's commentary? I know some people were complaining about it this weekend, but I had a different TV and cable service then.

(although it's better than 4 years ago when the commentary was AHEAD of the game)

Amen to that -- and my wife, who is Australian, and sitting beside me here, actually made that observation first.

Aus defence completely breaks down on their left but Japan waste the opportunity.

 

While susceptible to the counterattack, Japan doesn't look that dangerous when they go forward. Socceroos have to play with level heads. They now have 3 or 4 yellow cards issued in this match--keep it together guys--the sportsmanship during the Cup so far has been very good.

I'm following this on livescore and soccernet.

Is Australia dominating as much as it sounds like on the webcommentary? They have an awful lot of possession, and Japan is still given credit for only one shot on target (as of the 74th minute or so). Are people who are watching the match reaching the same conclusion?

 

Promising looking cross to Kennedy turns out to be a wasted header in the 80th minute.

At the end of the match, I would guess Australia would have 60-65% of the possession in this game. Japan have had a couple of shots on goal up to the 83rd minute, but they were weak shots that Schwarzer handled easily.

 

Nah, what's happening is Australia just controls it a lot in the midfield before they go down and make a bad pass to turn it over. Japan sprints down the field when they get it and make the bad pass to lose it much quicker.
