Well this footy story is not about the USA but it is in North America! Another writeup on the International Cup coming up in August. Its all good. Go to http://foxsports.news.com.au/story/0,8659,15915910-23770,00.html
Not a good choice of words for the title. In North American vernacular, when you say something is "in the pits", it's equivalent to "in the trashcan" or "in the gutter".
Technically speaking the English Language, can be difficult to learn if it is not your first language. Why partly because of the huge amount of similar words and expressions used. So Chandu you are not correct in your statement. The above title is fine for the USA and Australia. When you read the article it fits in ok. However if the title had said- "Aussie Rules Football IS the pits" you would be correct. There is a huge subtle difference in meaning between IS and IN.
There are more articles and photos of this media event at the links below. We did find a US connection after all ----- The drivers in the green and yellow are wearing the US Aussie Rules Club- Atlanta Kookaburras jumpers. The Canadian Aussie Rules National team members in the red and white jumpers. http://www.crash.net/uk/en/news_vie...id=3&nid=114863 www.champcar.ws/News/Article.asp?ID=9332 There actually a lot more photos at the link on the Canadian AFL site www.aflcanada.com/
