because it is the most likely time our brains can be fried in the sun, possibly impairing them so we'll buy season tickets again :)
Or it's the best time for a summer thunderstorm so we can show off the roof on our stadium.

Or because some TV network hates United fans. But this would only make sense if it was a Telefutura game, it appears to be on CSN instead.

So, I guess no good reason then.

This is the best time to pack RFK to the roof! 46K people for sure!

46k people? Are we doing a "shelter the homeless for a day" promotion with free hot dogs?

Any truth to the rumor that United's attendance figures include rats, cats, and raccoons?

Well, this is going to lead to a shortened tailgate for most people. Too bad- that's the best part of United games these days.

But I guess a game at 2 on Sunday is better than an 8 o'clock.

On the road United averages .50 points per game, the same as Houston. There are only three teams in the league averaging less than .50 points per game on the road. They are Toronto and New England at .44 points per game, and Philadelphia at a league worst .40 points per game. In other words, if there is any game that ought to be winnable even by the lowly 2010 United, this should be it.

(That said, United has BY FAR the league worst home performance at .70 points per game -- which is a over .50 points per game worse than the next worst home team, namely Chivas at 1.22 points per game.)

Finally, a break for DC United. Philly could be considered an equal opponent. And that is not saying much here...

Knave, so you're saying DCU prevails .7-.4 in a real nail-biter at RFK? Wow, can't wait to see that one.

Does that equate to a 0-0 tie, or do we get to round up at .7 as we're the home team, winning -- barely -- 1-0.

I predict a 4-1 victory as well, with two goals from the rats, a long blast from the one of the cats, and a penalty converted by the wily raccoon.

....and the squirrels help keep the scoreline down, although, their wild and squirrely efforts to control Alejandro Moreno and his diving fall short and a little nibble bite earns Philly a PK. Which Talon fails to save.

Re: DC United vs Philadelphia Union

Well, no, that was points per game, not goals per game. But now that you mention it ...

    United: Home
    GF/G = .7
    GA/G = 1.6

    Philly: Away
    GF/G = .9
    GA/G = 2.2

So if we average United's GF/G and Philly's GA/G, then we get 1.45 goals for United.

And if we average United's GA/G and Philly's GF/G, then we get 1.25 goals for Philly.

From this we can conclude, first, that United will win by a score of 1.45 to 1.25, and second, that this analysis is pure hokum.

    Han?

Seems incredibly hard to imagine shutting this team out.

Seems even more hard to imagine scoring.

    Should be a hoot.

Today's Express newspaper lists the game as being in Philly.

I'm normally a big Express fan, but that's just a bad mistake on their part.

To clarify, they do have a game story that correctly lists RFK as the venue. The error is in the TV listings.
