besides, ESPN will never nationally televise more than 2 games from CCS a season (regular season, at least). why, i dont know. that said, the crew always play so badly when CCS has big crowds like that, and they did again tonight...
for more on attendances and the games check www.nj.com/metrostars information by New Jersey #1 newspaper Star-Ledger.
The Chicago announcers mentioned that some high school soccer game was played before the Wizards/Fire game. That must be it.
lol i did see a whole bunch of guys that seemed to be wearing local firefighter t-shirts... not sure if there was a promotion run for cops and firefighters that is run in various places from time to time (this was not the fire group... blue t-shirts with the standard fire fighter badge... much like the fire badge) kudos to kc
If the Metrostars keep playing like tonight, they will have no fans at the next game. I think its time for a change, and my vote for the next Metrostars coach goes to Tab Ramos.
19,854 in LA. Sounded like more on the radio (ha, ha). I believe there was a doubleheader with the two California chick teams, but I'm not sure. High thirteens on a Wednesday is the lowest crowd so far. Go Denver! We need a 'pathetic' from somewhere, so I offer the following- My expensive cable internet not working and having to cope with many dropouts on my dialup...pathetic!
Some of us are gonna catch the game on ESPN2! There's no need to tell us how the metros are playing in an attendance thread.
so what... was dc the only pathetic of the night?? and they kicked san jose's arse... wtf people, show up when your team is going to kick the snot out of another team
Season mean up to 15,500. A mean of 18,572 is needed over the final 16 games for the ten remaining MLS teams to euqal their collective mean of 15,851 from last year. Not impossible.
week 24 Col@NE..... 13,210 Metro@LA.. 19,854 NE@C-bus. 24,422 SJ@DC...... 14,158 Chi@KC..... 20,173 Dal@Col..... ?????? week's avg. thus far: 18,363 (15,303 for all six matches)
No the double header is next week. The jury is still out on whether Donovan will be playing for the Quakes or The Chicks.
Denver will be a tough sell. Here's what's happening in Downtown this weekend: 1) Denver Grand Prix (Formula 1) race Sun starting at 1pm 2) Taste of Colorado (Civic Center) draws several hundred thousand every year (throughout day+early-eve) 3) Saturday 11am CU vs CSU American Football (yesterday, but those fans unlikely to spend money twice on a weekend at Invesco) 4) Thursday 7pm Broncos final pre-season (see #3) To the Rapids credit, they're offering a giant taco and a beer for $1 pre-game (4pm-7pm). We'll see if this generates Columbus Buck-a-Brat attendance or not.
i am guessing that the stadium is near downtown (i don't rightly know)... but if it is, the large amount of people in the area could be looking for more to do and fancy a soccer game as something different or acceptable check out downtown, then hit the game don't know how likely that is though
galaxy crowd was great. the new Riot Squad actually yell and do heers and they had their whole section, including many non-Riot Squad members (or so it seemed from t what they were wearing) in full voice. the Galaxians were also banging away on their drum(s) as were others in the GA section. a great night at the Rose Bowl!!! btw, what the hell was going on in KC to cause such a disturbance...I mean...large crowd for the Wizards match!! A big thumbs up!!
