Final tally of the weekend: Los Angeles FC (vs. Real Salt Lake) 22,221 Total Attendance this week: 342,742 Average (16 games): 21,421
Again for comparison purposes; Liga MX Week 11 62,707 America-UNAM (77%) 27,273 Toluca-Guadalajara (100%) 21,180 Atletico SL-Cruz Azul (82%) 17,333 Tijuana-FC Juarez (66%) 16,390 Atlas-Puebla (30%) 13,503 Mazatlán FC-Tigres (67%) 11,179 Queretaro-Leon (33%) 8,193 Pachuca-Necaxa (32%) Monterrey v Santos wasn't played this week.
If my calculations are correct, with last week's tally + the NYC game at RBA gives us: Total Attendance: 9,794,430 Total Matches: 448 Average (Mean) Attendance: 21,863 Matches Remaining: 45 Season Attendance Target for 22k average: 10,846,000 Remaining Attendance for 22k: 1,051,570 Remaining Average needed: 23,368 Remaining weekday: 13 (12 today) Remaining Fri/Sat/Sun: 32 5 of the top 5 in attendance host today (Clt, Sea, Nash, Cincy, NE) with Chicago hosting Messi in Soldier Field. Vancouver & MTL the likely lows.
IDK what other league are averaging this "year", byt for the last completed season: Soccer only: 1. Bundesliga (GER): 42,966 2. EPL (ENG): 40,301 --------- 3. La Liga (Spain): 26,886 4. Serie A (ITA): 25,237 ------- 5. Super League (China): 23,234 6. Ligue 1 (FRA): 22,799 7. Liga MX (MEX): 22,787 8. Campeonato (BRA): 22,432 9. Bundesliga2 (GER): 22,224 10. MLS (USA/CAN): 21,311 11. J League (JAP): 20,750 12. Liga (Arg): 19,839 If some of the other leagues dip a little this year, 22k+ could be good for 6th.
The Premier League will likely take a dip this year. The 3 relegated teams from last year all had stadiums in the 32-37k capacity range while this year they added Luton Town (11.5k), Burnley (21.7k), and Sheffield United (32k). It won't really hurt the overall number, but pro/rel can do that to a league if the unexpected teams make it through. Similar situation in the Bundesliga with 62k and 77k being replaced by 15k and 18k.
NE had almost 38K last Saturday. They will be lucky to get half of that tonight (had 16K on the last Wednesday night game). It's tough for most fans to get to Foxboro on a work day.
If you told us that we're sad about 16k at Foxboro on a Wednesday night I'd be very excited about the improvement lol
Tickets for Notts County v Wrexham went on sale today. No general sale, just members. The home sections almost sold out by the end of the day. Official capacity is just over 17,000 for safety reasons even though there are 20,000 seats. This is fourth division football that averaged around 5,000 in the first two decades of this Millennium. I think the Wrexham documentary has really helped.
Any word on Messi and tickets sipd for Solfier Field? Heard the Fire were giving a $250/$50 credit to single game ticket buyers to use on 2024 ST if they buy tonight.
The credit is for anyone that bought a ticket for tonight in response to rumors that Messi might not play. Game was announced as a full stadium (~61,500) sellout the other day.
We're the third biggest club in the UKs 9th biggest metro area. Last season we had our first sellout since Manchester United in 1992. The transition over the last 5 years has been astounding. It has a lot to do with owners who are more interested in football than their own egos.
You have a 20k seat stadium. A lot of clubs at that level do not. Not to mention Conference. Recent struggles aside.
As I said, it was built for the Premier League, which we were a member of until it actually kicked off. Our average attendance in the intervening 30 years has been less than 6,000. We're a medium sized club at best.
I'll be beating a dead horse but wouldn't it be more beneficial for MLS to have those 2 teams move (sell them) to cities in US? Look at Nashville, Cincinnati, St. Louis. "Small markets" seem to do better with attendance.
Decent attendances from Chicago, Charlotte, and Cincinnati. May be some time to get the full results though. Philadelphia and Austin have yet to turn in their numbers for the night. Is the honeymoon over for Josh Wolff and Austin? I thought the team had sold out every game this season, but there were a ton of empty seats at Q2 Stadium tonight.
Announced crowd of 62,124 in Chicago tonight. Definitely some large chunks of seats that remained empty for the entire match due to Messi’s absence, but my eyes would call the stadium about 3/4 full or more. By far the largest crowd in club history and easy to see for a long time fan like myself.
You equate the size of the club with the current attendance. You have the third largest stadium in league 2. You have been in the top tier. You have sucked lately (Conference), and attendance has been down. But your ceiling is Top 3 in League Two (MK Dons, Bradford City). The attendance will go up after getting promoted. And you are doing well this year. Top. Fans are rightfully excited. Could be a short stay in League Two after a 100 point season last year. In the grand scheme of things Notts isn't a big club, but for League Two? Yep.
CHI 62,124 SEA 30,495 CLT 30,080 CIN 25,513 NSH 25,273 LAFC 22,041 ATX 20,738 NER 14,144 VAN 13,776 MTL 13,509 PHI ? DAL PPD Average of reported games 25,769 Blame Canada!
No. Look at Columbus. The Queso boy said that Columbus didn't have the "business metrics", and his incompetence torpedoed the franchise. Now CLB Is a vibrant MLS city with a recent championship. (I still hate the logo and their name shennanigans). MTL and VAN are good markets. Owners have to get up from their rears.
