I tought it was Attendances 2023. Isn't it better to have a thread for the year? Anyways, excellent attendances!
Assuming the LA attendance was going to be around 70,000, that would have bumped the average up to 32,890.
For the first time ever in @MLS history, two teams on the same day had an attendance of 65k+ 👏🏟 pic.twitter.com/iLeem5sOIA— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) February 28, 2023 Could have been 3 if the weather gods permitted it :-(
Who knew? They spent decades trying to sell soccer to City slickers up north… and it’s the rednecks down south that are breaking attendance records well done!
It’s like betting lines. If a ticket is hot, as the supply gets lower, prices go up. If a ticket isn’t selling, the price goes down. Think kind of like Priceline and those companies.
There's really no set ticket price per se. Everything is based on particulars (who they're playing, date, etc). For example: --A seat in section 205 vs Miami on 3/11 will run $75 a pop, because it's opening day. --That same seat vs DC United a week later is going for $55. --Fast forward to 9/16 when the Red Bulls come to Yankee Stadium and that same seat is going for $95. True, but there is a huge market for local MLB, NBA and NHL teams. There is no market for NYCFC tickets.
I'm not sure on MLS prices, but when I still lived in DC the Caps were doing dynamic pricing as early as 2008. Here at Texas Tech they do dynamic pricing for football, men's and women's basketball, and baseball that I know of. I would honestly be surprised if there's an MLS team that isn't doing dynamic pricing yet.
Your post seems to indicate that there is varying demand for different games. That's what dynamic pricing is trying to optimize.
