San Jose has four home matches left: Sat 8/17 vs. DC Wed 8/21 vs. Dallas Sat 9/7 vs. Columbus Sat 9/21 vs. Los Angeles And the 8/17 match is the ESPN2 game, which usually doesn't do well in San Jose. The last match is against the Galaxy, which usually does do well in San Jose. They have to average 11,296 for the last four to break 10,000 for the year.
Re: Krafty wants out ken, it's one of my pet peeves when people quote a 10 paragraph post and write, "AGREED" or whatever. Just hit the highlights, dude. In fact, don't quote it unless you're directly addressing a particular point. Like this: heh heh heh
I realize that this is an MLS forum, but I thought I'd note that the Seattle Sounders opened Seahawk Stadium with 28,000+ on Sunday night's game against Vancouver. Very good quality soccer, too.
?????? You're bragging about SJ's attendance being the better part of 1k per match LESS than last years??? (And little liklihood of even matching it?) What is missing from this picture?
What I think would be interesting would be to compare this years attendence statistics against last year's w/o Miami and Tampa Bay. I think that is the best way to see if any progress has been made. Anyway, I think the attendance at matches this year would have been higher w/o the world cup. For those four weeks, the league was completely no where to be found. More so then usual. Couple that with the fact that 3 weeks before the WC, most of the best Americans were gone.
Because of Chicago's stadium situation, They have kind of replaced Tampa or Miami. So you can really only subtract one of those teams.
Last year through 9 games SJ had averaged 10,224 this year through 9 games they are averaging 9,520. I honestly don't care what they do with the rest of their games. The fact that the defending MLS champion draws like that is a joke...move them...anywhere. Currently they have a 36.6 capacity percentage. All of this from Sports Business Journal, I am SURE it breeds confidence into MLS advertising
Re: Re: Just getting them out of the way: Good point, but I've noticed that if we get it out of the way early, then we just stick to the topic at hand, namely attendence. Look back... we don't get sidetracked by the pointlessly reptitive "discussions" anymore. Sachin
I can't believe it. Move San Jose now. I mean 0 attendence on a Wed. I mean come on, at least 1000 should show up when they aren't even playing. It's a sorry state of affairs in San Jose.
RE: Seattle Sounders attendance at the new stadium... It was 25,500 and some change. (Paul Allen should invest in MLS. Just keeping the "drivel" out of this thread, Kenn. ) - Paul
I say move KC to San Jose and have double headers every game. The attendance should double and help up the average.
Looked like less to me. Of course, we were overhead in a 737 at the time, coming in to land at Newark. Shoot, I should've looked at the schedule when I booked the flights, and bumped the figure up by two by taking an earlier flight.
