I'd much rather they still tried to be on actual TV instead (one of those other PC things might be fun for extra junk, though I refuse to use facebook for live video, it's terrible). Never tried twitter live things, never seen one.
Facebook now has some MLS games. Twitter has NFL, NHL and MLB. Yahoo has had MLB. I don't believe alphabet has had a major league in the US. I wouldn't mind if there were streaming in addition to the local television broadcast, but I am not in favor of online only.
ASN network is different from NC8 or WJLA7. It is an all-sports channel owned by Sinclair that allowed DC United, among other sports/leagues/teams, to be seen in areas covered by Sinclair. If games are scheduled on NC8 or WJLA7, then they will be seen on those channels in all likelihood. I think that NC8 and WJLA7 are only seen in the DC Metro area, so if ASN is defunct at the end of the month, you will not see DC United or the other sports/leagues/teams carried by ASN outside of the DC Metro area - at least until they can swing a new contract with another sports network.
For what it's worth, it's April 1st, and ASN is still on here in Norfolk, VA on 33.2. They had live college lacrosse on this afternoon, and i'm watching the DCU pregame show as i type this. ASN's website, Facebook, and Twitter haven't been updated since March 21. They're looking like a zombie network.
An ASN update. They've announced a sort of triple-merger of ASN with Campus Insiders and 120 Sports. ASN looks to survive, but will probably be rebranded. I assume the Sinclair Broadcasting contract with DCU won't be affected. https://www.yahoo.com/news/sinclair-teams-sports-silver-chalice-210508175.html
On comcast in Annapolis, they jumped in the broadcast like 2 minutes late in the 2nd half and we saw the corner kick goal...unreal.
Yeah, that pissed me off - I was outside enjoying my halftime ritual on the deck when all of the sudden I had to listen to a goal being scored on the outside speakers. Had enough of us seen the build-up we could have stopped it with our collective will ... or something At least they seemed to mostly be good with their sound this week. However, the set-ups for Lapdog Lindsay to praise the team are getting really old, it's like watching talk-show hosts set-up comedians for their bits. I'd love to hear her say one thing critical, or even just honest - there's plenty to be constructively commenting on without having to lose too much homerism.
Latest ASN update: ASN will cease to exist, and will morph into Stadium! Coming sometime in 2017 (probably right before the college sports start up in August would be my guess). https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1547859448578039
Sad thing in live sports reporting the plain looking female broadcasters actually have to say something intelligent. If she was one of those Univision chicas with the team jersey body painted over a pair of Globas Grandes no one would care what she said or complain she was preempting a portion of the game video.
