Thanks for clarifying that it's 11 days not 4 days, which is what I'd assumed. But YES in my book it's Martinelli at CF (Nketiah is not anywhere near the asset. And Balogun?... yeah right!)
Scott Parker looks like he just got the message that he's probably being relegated. Had they not dropped those 2pts in the final minute, he still had a bit of a chance.
I don't care about the point or points lost; It's not like Arsenal stood to qualify for Europe that way. All that really mattered was continued building of the team's form and avoiding injury. Well, that's shot. Good grief.
Season goals: Qualify for Europe by finishing top 6: Unlikely Qualify for Europe by winning the Europa League: Still got a shot Qualify for Europe by signing a piece of paper: Job Done! https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...-sign-up-to-european-super-league-report-says
And to make matters worse, NBC is just announcing that several big EPL clubs have decided to join the European Super League. Which I've never ever seen as a good thing. Actually if we're left out of that new league, perhaps we can finally challenge for the EPL again. Edit: I assumed that we'd fallen so far from grace that nobody would want us in the ESL, but apparently from that Guardian article we're in fact one of the signatories. Hmm... I'd honestly like to see us have nothing to do with that.
You know what, even if they miraculously win the Europa League I say do whatever is needed to clean house and go with youth next season. Even if you take losses on some players there's such a dire need to change the tenor in the dressing room it would be worth it to purge the roster. I dont even appreciate the fluke trophies over the past several years because it feels like all Arsenal has done since 2016 is get worse as the roster got more expensive.
This is the funniest news ever Well done Stan. Why bother having a good team when you can just ride the wave
I’m surprised City are the only hold out among the “Big Six”. This is all about the money, but have their accountants analyzed whether it will be more profitable for the clubs, we know it will be more profitable for DAZN. I would expect the FA and UEFA to ban the breakaway teams from their cup competitions, so without cup games a 16 team league will have a 30 game schedule period. Will the DAZN television contract be enough to make up for the loss of game day revenue and the loss of money from the Champions or Europa Leagues. Since Arsenal are part of this I assume clubs are being selected based on their value, i.e., they are selecting the 16 richest, most marketable clubs. Do teams get relegated when they lose value and are no longer among the 16 richest clubs in Europe?
I'm not sure what you mean by changing the tenor in the locker room. I didn't see complacency or lack of effort in this match. I saw a midfield that wasn't good enough to break down a low block, an older striker who eventually broke down because he was running so much, and a bunch of youth trying their best but not quite getting it done, including one such youth making a youthful defensive error that led to a dive/PK. But perhaps you mean something else by tenor. Not trying to be snarky, genuinely curious.
