Words of coach Christian Gourcuff about Peñalba:
"His behavior is irreprochable, it was hard for him to come from Argentina to sit on the bench, he's trying hard on training, he's well skilled, feeling well the game, intelligent, anticipating well, but he's way too slow, he worked very hard for that, I count on him, he can do a very interesting end of season"

    and Sosa:
"His style is the opposite to Gaby's, he's got the "grinta" and the "winning spirit" and transmits it to the others, he had to work rather on the tactical aspects and he still can do better, but I think we made a bargain, which wasn't obvious because the French market was already closed when we lost Jallet [gone to Paris], and we hadn't followed Franco so close, we knew Gaby better"

Thanks, for that, i was about to ask if there was any particular reason of why Peñalba seemingly played few matches so far.

    Re: Argentinos in Francia

My guess is because Gourcuff plays only in a strict 4-4-2 where Peñalba can only play as a support forward though he's rather a creative midfielder spotted behind the strikers. He has not the swiftness of a forward.

(Bergessio rocks. Too bad Saint-Etienne sucks.)

    Re: Argentinos in Francia

As good as a striker can do when he has simply no football team behind him... :(

Well, Cavenaghi scored a hat-trick today in the French Cup against Ajaccio (Ligue 2) ! :) Every Bordeaux fan is happy for him (and for the qualif of course). And everybody hopes he gets back to a starting place in the team.
I have read a theory: that Cavenaghi doesn't play because Gourcuff is part of the team. Cavenaghi is a 9,5 whereas Gourcuff is a pure 10. Yet it's difficult to make those two different profiles play together; Zidane-Del Piero or Zidane-Djorkaeff are the exceptions. So Laurent Blanc had to choose. And he chose Gourcuff.

That said, as Gourcuff could easily leave Bordeaux to a top 10 club after the WC, Cavenaghi could be back as the center piece of the team.

Is there any chance of Cavenaghi moving to a different club where he would be a guaranteed starter?

    Re: Argentinos in Francia

Frankly I don't know. Not this winter for sure. Cavenaghi is very popular among the fans, he's an excellent player, and his family loves Bordeaux - the city. It is more question of a prolongation of contract than a transfer. It's just that he doesn't play. For the moment.
But if he does good and keeps scoring goals (4 in 4 days and an assist) there's no reason he wouldn't play, even with Gourcuff.

Personnaly I hope he stays in France :)

Sebastian Dubarbier (CFR Cluj, Romania) to FC Lorient for 3 years and half.

The successor of the jeu à la nantaise remembers the old Argentinian connection. :) Hugo Bargas, Jorge Burruchaga, Nestor Fabbri, etc...

Rumor says Alberto "Tino" Costa could be exchanged with Marseille for French U21 RB Gary Bocaly...
Anyway considering Montpellier's season he could play the Champion's League next year.

Look at his career and say "man, what a travel" ! :)

I had forgot that Renato Civelli was back, too :) He was appreciated by Marseille fans. Although Nice is a rival everybody at l'OM wishes him success.

Diego Placente (Left defender - Bordeaux)
Gabriel Heinze (Left or central defender - Marseille)
Mauro Cetto (Central back - Toulouse)
Renato Civelli (Central back - Nice)
Franco Sebastian Sosa (Right back - Lorient)
Pablo Barzola (Right defender - Caen, L2)
    Franco Sanchirico (Defender - Evian-Thonon-Gaillard, L3)

Juan Eduardo Eluchans (Offensive midfielder - Caen, L2)
    Lucho Gonzalez (Midfielder - Marseille)
    Alberto Costa (Midfielder - Montpellier)
    Gabriel Peñalba (Midfielder - Lorient)
Diego Sebastian Gomez (Offensive midfielder - Tours, L2)
Alejandro Alonso (Right midfielder - Monaco)
    Cesar Delgado (Winger - Lyon)
Augusto Fernandez (Right winger - Saint-Etienne)
    Luis Gonzalo Bustamante (Midfielder - Evian-Thonon-Gaillard, L3)

Sebastian Dubarbier (Supporting forward - Lorient)
    Fernando Cavenaghi (Striker - Bordeaux)
    Lisandro Lopez (Forward - Lyon)
    Gonzalo Bergessio (Striker - Saint-Etienne)

El Chelito and Licha have put Higuain, Gago and Garay out of the CL. Gaby Heinze and Lucho are opposed to Benfica's Schaffer, Pablo Aimar, Di Maria and Saviola (ex Monaco).
