This will be a friendly thast played, Basile will be there as Argentina coach (Although he does stop at "15th") and Dunga as new Selecao Coach...

Interesting match, I wonder who Basile will call up...

Brazil have much younger and experimental team (Expect the same from Argentina)...

Which players do you think Argentina will call up?

    For sure:
    Aguero
    Messi...

    :p

I reckon Basile calling a lot of the players from the national league, but off course, Agüero and Messi are a must to play against Brasil.

Why are they playing in London? the 2 countries share a boundary. will they be using only players that play in Europe?

Ese será el único partido que tendrá que afrontar con la Selección antes de dejar Boca el 15 de setiembre, tras jugar la Recopa Sudamericana.

    Neutral ground maybe?

Messi and Aguero will definitely be called up. I figure Tevez and Masherano as well. Aimar possibly...Heinze is right there so it would make sense to get him as well. What about Ayala? Or Palleta and Burdisso. Both play right back right? Palleta is younger and doing wonderfully at Liverpool. Burdisso was preferred by Pekerman and did a good job at the WC. Hmmm. Abbondanzierri probably. Don't know much about the Argentine-based players.

It's great news for me as I live just over an hour from London. I'll be going to that, lets stick it to Brazil. :D

Yes!!! At last something to look forward after WC ended :)

Only thing is that Coco will only be with the players 48 hours before, so I hope he can make something decent in such a short time. But I think Dunga is in the same situation.

I read that though Basile likes to include home players, he may select mainly outside players for convenience for this match. Will be interesting to see whether he chooses to stick with the WC team, or he wants to straight away put his choice of players.

I assume the location/timing comes down to $.

Pato was great in the WC, but Basile should focus on the future...which likely will not involve Pato (i.e. 2010 WC, next year's Copa America).

El Clarin is speculating that Basile is going to call up Ustari, Messi, Gago, Palacio, Tevez, Insúa, Ayala and Agüero (all but Agüero are on the Russian list). They also think is going to call up Cata Díaz, Battaglia or Ibarra among others.

Here is the link (it's in Spanish)

Although I do agree with you, Pato deserves at the very least to get one more match with the NT. Ending your time with the NT should never come because of an injury.

I hope Ustari starts in the game against Brazil, he is going to be Argentina's number 1 for a long time and he should be given a game in the first team a.s.a.p. I also hope Gonzalo gets picked.

Being selfish, as I will be going to the game, I really hope Aguero is picked to start, I would love to see him actually play (rather than highlights on YouTube. :D

Both Ustari and Agüero are favorites of Basile so I think it's a pretty safe bet

I agree Moishe, and Nice Avatar:D

pato played great in the WC and should at least get a good crack at Brazil before he finishes his international Career

Ustari will have plenty of time to gain experience

Pato deserves one more game? He played in a World Cup what else can he possibly want?

It is about the future.I hope he calls Ustari and Filliol or whom ever is the goalie coach start making him a better keepr with time.

After Italia 90 Basile got the job as NT headcoach and called a bunch of new players that one never heard of unless you watched the Argentinean league.Simeone,Sergio Vazquez,Biscontti,Franco,Astrada,Zapata,Victor Hugo Ferreyra, etc etc just to name a few.Only ones that I can remember that were left from the NT of Italia 90 were Goyco,Balbo,Caniggia, and Ruggeri.Maradona came later as we all know the game vs Australia.

I also heard he will have in mind a few boca players suck as Ibarra,Cata Diaz,Battaglia and who knows who else.Only one I can probably deal with from those is Ibarra. But it is a start and we should have patients eventhough we are going to be playing Brazil and it is a game we definitely don't want to loose.

The material is there and plenty of it.It is up to el Coco to put the pieces together.

Leon, you will have to keep me informed on tickets mate, I have looked everywhere, and i guess its too early to look still, I am 4 hours away from London, but this is definitely the closest the team has played from wherever I am ever, so I will make a trip down if I get the tickets.

BTW, its on the week when all european leagues are off because of Euro 2008 qualifiers, so I guess it would be mostly european based players.

    Shaf,

I'll keep you updated on tickets, they've not gone on sale yet. Let me know if you want one as I'll get my brother to buy them (he lives near Arsenal's new ground).

I will definitely want one (or two, if possible). No matter what price they are, I wonder where IDS is, bet he would fancy coming down too!

Maybe this is the time to try the 'Snow White and the seven dwarves' lineup so maligned by Grondona.

I'm sure IDS will be going to the game, but he does seem to have called it a day as far as this board is concerned.
