Are we a giant? If we're not, how close to being one are we?

    It works though, unfortunately. All they have to do is get to PKs, or get that lucky lamped shot by Gerrard. The CL is a very different beast than the league, and regardless of how I or you or anyone feel, they have a relatively successful formula in place for that competition.

    The thing is, the "greats" don't give up on their domestic comp by January. They may not win it as well as the CL, but they are usually in there, top 1-3 places. They don't chuck games, rest 3/4ths of their players in league matches before CL ties, etc. They don't need UEFA to sneak them in the backdoor of the competition after they won it all, because their league position was 5th. They gun it out in all comps, like we did last year. So we only won 1, right? Well Liverpool seem to consistently put all their eggs in one basket, the CL, and when that doesn't come through their season is over. Inter could do them in, and the most they could eye is the FA Cup.

    If someone really, really wants to continue this discussion, they can open a new thread. But once again, a thread with a decent point get derailed by people who completely miss the point.
