Its 17deg Celsius today in Durban and I'm ready to die. I have tickets for the RSA vs Uruguay game tomorrow night and temps are expted to drop to -3degCelsius in Pretoria. Lord help me! I don't know if I even have clothing for such weather, I'm not even sure what to buy besides 2 x2ply blankets and a portable heater. Somehow 1 pair of socks with boots don't seem enough. I'm from the coast and we have never had temps go below 10deg at night, let alone the day. I hope this cold front blows over by the weekend so we can go back to the normal 25deg winter weather. I am feeling so cold right now its not even funny.

About the food, its sad that FIFA didn't allow our normal caterers to cater for us in stadiums. A nice hot boerewors roll with some onions and chill sauce is all I need, and that nice braaied chicken vendors usually sell outside the stadiums can really fill a person up. But FIFA said no and we are now stuck with crappy food. I am going to eat a boerewors roll from somewhere before going to the stadium tomorrow and won't buy anything inside. I'm a South African and cannot imagine a game without my roll. And then afterwards I'll go to a corner shop to get some chicken. But for now, since its so cold, nothing beats a nice hot Durban bunny chow. Should heat me up nicely. Too bad our visitors may not get to taste any of these things at our stadiums. But no worry, once you get here give us a shout and we'll point in the direction of some good soul food :)

I'm sure the weather and boring game contributes to the lack of enjoyment of last nights match at Greenpoint...

Height + rain + no food + crappy soccer = bad experience. Going to watch RSA vs Uru at Loftus (my home turf). Will let you know what Cat 2 + freezing weather + old brown Sherry + local fans = ??

Oh Gronum, you speak my language. Too bad I'll be driving to Nelspruit direct after the game :( I'll depart Durban from around 7 a.m. drop off my son at grandma's halfway, then off to Loftus then to Nelspruit. I'm afriad if I drink the cops will bust me cos they are all over the place :( May arrive in Nels around midnight and only then will I find time to kick back relax and have a nice doppie to warm me up. Can't wait.

I seem to be one of the few yet to leave for SA yet :(

But I feel at home already. Cold. Wet. Crappy food. Overpriced. Traffic chaos. Boken toilets. Dodgy public transport. Inevitability of corporate sponsored teams winning in the end.
    This could be England!

    Hi

For those who are using the MTN sim that was provided by FIFA. Did you have to register the SIM card or could you just 'plug and play'?

Still a week before I depart for Jo'burg.

Very much looking forward to it, I have all transport arranged, safari booked.

6 games to watch; still hoping final tickets will appear at some point.
