@Beerking and I hate Apple after today... however took forever and lots of swear words, anger and aggression but he's fully operational now for the season.
It's fully operational for you Kait, there's still a major disconnect between apple and appleTV. I might be able to see a handful of games on my desktop but i want the games on my television where they ********ing well belong. PISS ON APPLETV AND PISS ON MLS FOR CHOOSING THEIR SORRY ASSES!
As controversial as MLS leaving local TV remains, I've heard from plenty of people across the industry that the league and Apple feel pretty good about not having to worry about this. https://t.co/g0UaX9Tmp5— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) February 10, 2023
Too bad we can't march on their headquarters with pitchforks because they're on the other side of the planet. Oh, wait . . .
They complain because many of them got their team’s games already at no extra fee. Now they must pay $100 and jump through hoops to get it to their TV. I’m a current fan and I won’t pay. And I’d wager anything I’m not alone.— MALGIS (@MALGIS31) February 3, 2023 Non-season-ticketholding Quakes fan. @Beerking @falvo
It’s simple, if you like the league it is fairly cheap. If you don’t like the league it is very expensive.— Tactical Manager (@ManagerTactical) February 1, 2023 Good take. 40% of the games are literally free. Anyone who wants to casually consume the league can do so for zero dollars. Anyone who wants to watch the league religiously can pay $100 bucks a year which is nothing over 12 months. It makes total sense to me.— USMNT 🇺🇸 Thoughts (@USMNT_Thoughts) February 1, 2023
Posted 2/8 on the Chicago Fire BigSoccer board (2023 TV thread): when i try to get the app on my mac it says my OS is not current enough but there is not an update available to me when i try to get the app on my phone it says my iOS is not current enough but there is not an update available to me
Pretty sure the MLS fanbase is the youngest of the American sports leagues so fortunately there are probably not too many "technological laggard" boomer types who can't figure out the most basic stuff.... BigSoccer on the other hand skews very old and is not a representative sample of MLS fans.
JasonMa posting in the Rapids BigSoccer thread (MLS and Apple sitting in a Tree thread): For C38 season-ticket holder members who are wondering about their Apple/MLS Season Pass code, we are working with the Rapids on that. Due to the number of C38 members and the way the Front Office handles our accounts there's some extra work that needs to be done. The codes will be distributed on February 13th. A subsequent post by him says they won't have it ready by the 13th but hopefully before the start of the season.
February 3 post on the Columbus Crew forum (MLS TV Rights): Found a flaw in the Apple Family sharing - If the person you are adding to share the subscription with is already part of a different Family Sharing set up, it will ask them to leave their current family to join yours. So if you share a ticket account with a non-household member and you both already have existing Family Sharing set ups, it won't work unless the person leaves to join.
Plenty of techies on BigSoccer. They have reported impediments in signing up for the streaming MLS package that they were able to overcome, but only with savvy and time. The Apple package is not user friendly and takes time and persistence just getting started. Dissing Boomers isn't a good argument in favor of the Apple service.
To be clear watching the Quakes is way cheaper this year than last year. Cable TV during the course of a season costs a lot more than $100. I was paying $65 a month for YouTube TV. Good riddance.
And specific to the Rapids' supporters. But appears to be a problem that would not exist with cable TV, nonetheless.
Cable TV has a lot more to offer than Quakes games. I'm not ditching cable TV just because I get free Quakes games on my computer as a season ticketholder. The prorated value of Quakes games was pennies a month, not $100 for the season.
