Word War Z gets a meh Started brilliantly tailed off in to real boredom. for me the detailed stories had real suspense. too many other anecdotes were simply boring.
I thought it started slow and got better from the middle to the last quarter. My favorite was the chick that crashed her plane and had to get to the rescue point. I actually stopped what I was doing to focus all my attention on it.
I'll second that. I never realised that World War Z was such a massive best seller. It seems everyone (and not just in this thread) has read it or at least knows about it. I only wound up reading it because I had asked my wife for The Road as a gift, and World War Z popped up in the "people who bought this also bought..." section.
That's a great example, along with the guy in his apartment in Japan I started to get into those stories, only for them to end.
I doubt I could make to the end of one now, but in my youth I was quite fond of the Horseclans novels by Robert Adams, which were set in a post-apocalyptic America.
Just finished this and enjoyed it. It's a sequel but set 10 years after the first which I hadn't read and so didn't need to!
