    Hello people.
I recently discovered that some of my great grandparents are from Salamanca.
Any big clubs near that city?

Yep, Valladolid is the biggest club nearby; Valaldolid vs. Salamanca is a sort of lesser local rivalry (I remember Valladolid fans singing something like "when you break a salmantino (from Salamanca) in two it's impossible to find the brain".

Traditionally, Salamanca is one of those places where it is said that Real Madrid plays at home, too. Got a lot of supporters there.

BTW, Del Bosque is from there and was on loan as a player there.

Salamanca is the biggest club in Salamanca. Vamos UD Salamanca!!! The biggest little team in Spain. It is a great club and a great city, they beat Murcia 3-2 last week so I am psyched, hopefully they'll make the move back to Primera next year. Quique Martin is a soccer living legend.
    Oh, and Vallodolid sucks...:D

I read today that Celta just sent some brazilian guy to play for Salamanca.
I don't know his name though.

Roberto de Souza, plays in center mid-field, is on Brazil's Sub-20 National Team and played in Guaraní in Brazil. There was no room for him in Celta since all the international slots were taken. Hopefully he'll be pretty good.

Forget 'big' clubs and support the local side!

I thought this was pretty sweet, it is the last 5 minutes of the game when Salamanca won the relegation? (I forget English words every once and a while) to Second Division if anyone is interested. Small teams are definetly are better to follow, but they are much harder to keep up with specially in the US, but with the internet everything is possible.

I was reading the Real Oviedo thread a couple of days back ( I see you posted on it)...it was a really interesting thread and got a good response from some local fans....It's a shame that it seems to have died out.

Yeah, especially here in england... Wherever I have lived I always go for a local side.. It would be the same if I lived in Spain...

I could never support Barca or Real Madrid.. Always follow a cities 2nd or 3rd side...

Will Oviedo do well this year?
