Is there any chance Anderlecht would pay 6 million euro for Najar? http://www.blackandredunited.com/ru...or-andy-najar-anderlecht-mls-draft-right-back http://www.latribuna.hn/2013/01/16/seis-millones-ofrecerian-por-najar/ http://www.noshortcorners.com/2013/01/najar-and-far.html
Apparently the selling price was $3M as reported in the Washington Post today. He's a very fast player with good skills and has played on the right wing as well as right fullback. It's a good buy for Anderlicht and he will do well in Europe. Too bad DC United (my home team) had to lose him.
I very doubt Anderlecht would play over 5 million for any player, there is just too much risk involved. 3 million sounds more realistic.
Since Andy has transferred to Anderlecht, how has he done? Is he getting any first-team minutes? Thanks, in advance, for the report!
That's where you're wrong - there are highlights of the game: http://www.rsca.be/go/nl/mediacenter/video/3284/rsca-de_graafschap_1-1/0/highlights
You're welcome. Anderlecht certainly tried hard to get him but they have a lot of competition for the three positions behind Mbokani/De Sutter. I believe Najar has played a lot at rightback for DC United? It would be surprise me were he earmarked for that role for all Gillet's shortcomings, especially if Vanden Borre takes off. One thing re the opening post: To my knowledge, no Belgian team has ever paid more than around €3.5m for any player. I'm sure BelgianGuy will know better but Boussoufa is just about the biggest deal done - De Bock must have come close lately and Daerden was pretty big back in the day.
Just like to point out that Andy Najar scored twice in Anderlecht u21's 5-2 win over Club Brugge on Friday evening. You can watch the highlights here: http://www.rsca.be/go/nl/mediacenter/video/3287/u21_-_rsca-club_brugge_5-2/0/u21
I heard van Holsbeeck say once that €3.5m was the biggest sum Anderlecht had ever paid but whatever the true figure, the point still stands. Najar scored again in a reserve-team fixture the other day and has been playing on the right flank I believe.
Andy has started a few games now! Is that because of someone's injury or has he really been making his breakthrough? Also, what position has he played? Right back or right wing?
He's making his breakthrough now. He got his chance because of some injuries but he grabbed it with both hands. The coach praised him a lot lately. He played both right back and right wing but he did much better as a winger... and he said he didnt like the rightback position much. He'll be mainly used as a winger from now on.
