Well, this indeed does seem like more of a home field advantage than I might have thought:

But let’s not underestimate the value of playing the 30-minute Golden Goal overtime period at home. Even playing only a 10-minute tie-breaker, as MLS has done for the past seasons in regular-season matches, the home team has dominated. In the 47 matches that produced an overtime result, home teams posted a 35–12 record. That has to be a daunting figure for road-team coaches to consider.
