even on a plastic pitch in Naperville, the simple elegance of the game was back again, even if you had to look through the smoke to see it.

I will admit that I do miss White Castle since leaving Minnesota for Oregon, but I won't apologize for it.

Glad you enjoyed the article. I had a great time and was very impressed with the intimate setting, the fans, and the atmosphere in general. It made my first MLS game very enjoyable.

Great article, Allison. If there's a geographic center of MLS then the Pacific Northwest is the region farthest from. Glad you finally got to check it out.

No curved stands, no arching roofs, no Diamond Vision scoreboards, no padded seats (or seats, for that matter) - Just four simple grandstands with bleachers close enough to the pitch to draw the fans into the match instead of sitting back behind a concrete wall or in a sky box, completely detached from the action.
