If you haven't heard, Hawaii will host a preseason MLS soccer match with the Fabled rivalry between the LA Galaxy and D.C. United, for the Aloha Soccer Cup Feb. 25. As reported on soccernet.com, US tab. What do you guys think? Personally I like this idea, maybe in 06' MLS should have a match in Puerto Rico. If the attendance is great, I think the "First Kick" for every season should be at a location within the US that doesn't have an MLS team. This could possibly get people interested in MLS.
Very much agree. Hawaii actually has a strong youth-soccer program. It's a big sport there and they host a humongous tournament every summer (which I played in many moons ago). Where will they play?
I hope that's sarcasim, if not than its moments like this that I realize there are problems within our community, cause Hawaii is the 50th state of the US.
Aloha Stadium is what organizers are saying. Ching (Brian) certainly happy about it as it states on the website, because it can attract more Hawaiians to MLS.
Aloha Stadium? That has a nice artificial turf playing surface (as if you couldn't grow some nice lush grass in Hawaii!). Hopefully, no one blows out a knee in an exhibition match..............
I went to Maui in August, and believe me, there are plenty of people there growing lush grass. Most of them ride their bikes around and have this yellowy look in their eyes. Anyway, this sounds like a great excuse for a road trip and hopefully the F.O. will organize a flight/hotel/ticket package, so the G's fans can all party before/at the game/and celebrate on the flight home. You've got to be absolutely freakin kidding me! Will someone with half of a brain tell this person that Hawaii is not another country! You're kidding right?
