    Somehow missed this...

    http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/breves2006/20060111_180739_01.html

Second signing of the transfer window, with Postiga being the other.

I'm really happy with the transfers so far. Obviously, Postiga has done well, and Piatti looks like a good youngster.

Should get three points at Sochaux this weekend, considering that we'll have plenty of rest, and Sochaux look like they're in bad form.

Lost 4-0 to Sochaux of all teams. I think the CAN might be hurting us more than I thought.

"commies" on american standards. On french standards, it's common thinking. On average, french are much more leftists than americans.

Ouch. That 2-0 defeat to AS Nancy certainly hurt.

Is it just me, or is the problem with St. Etienne the fact they just aren't scoring so much? I mean, Piquionne isn't having the season he had last year. I thought that the addition in the offseason of Mazure would make them a higher scoring outfit, but I was wrong.

Hopefully they can tear Nice a new one tomorrow and return to winning ways.

Can anyone say anything about Piatti? I checked the ASSE site, and it appears he has yet to play. Nice words about the kid. Hopefully he has a very bright future for Les Verts.

Also, any word on Bruno Basto, a Protugese transfer from Feyenoord? It's nice to see that St. Etienne has picked up some players, as the squad was beginning to look a bit thin.

Oh and I just read, Postigoal(yes, Postigoal) is suspended as is Camara. Hognon is out with an injury. This makes it a tougher match against Nice.

if he keep score like this he can score maybe 9 goals more ..

we dont have any big striker from start season and last season ..

because that we loss many pT ..

gomis he need 2 years to play very good ..and Piatti i dont know any thing abaute him .. i just hope he can be big player in next years ..

Yeah, that definitely has seemed to be our achilles heel all year. It's just that our defense (and to an extent, the defensive midfield support), had been so solid that we were able to get away with it. But with the CAN, we're alot more exposed at the back (no Ilunga or Diawara, I believe).

Okay, I know Baup likes to play a 4-3-3, but will sometimes play a 4-4-2.

With that in mind, where does Postiga fit in the ideal Baup scheme? Is he left footed or right footed? Even if he is right footed, a right-footed shot from the left side gives you better options to score on the far sided post. I think the best place for him would be on the Left-Side of the front 3.

    Postiga - Piquionne - Feindouno

I hope Postiga signs. He is only turning 24 this year. And maybe seeing how Pauleta has made quite a career for himself in Ligue 1, this might give him some more incentive to stay. I hope he can get his career back on track, back to the point where he became a desirable talent.

Oh and I hope Les Verts beat Nice. Allez Les Verts!

St. Etienne have started with the following 4-3-3 formation:

    JANOT

    YAHIA
    PERQUIS
    ILUNGA
    DIAWARA

    SABLE
    PERRIN
    HELLEBUYCK

    PIQUIONNE
    MAZURE
    FEINDOUNO

    So far, 0-0 after 25.

Diawara has been subbed for Zokora at 53 minutes and Mazure has been subbed for Gomis at the 70th minute.

ASSE's site claims that Nice is playing with 11 defenders...

    Still 0-1 for the bad.

Hum... underachieve year in year out might be a bit strong since it's only year 2 of this group in L1 and that they overachieved last season.

Yes, this current streak is disappointing, but the second year up always seems harder than the first one. (translation: watch out Le Mans and Nice for your second time around). January and February have been hard on Les Verts as winter seems to freeze any momentum they have every year even the promotion one from L2.

The damages done from previous administration can't be reversed in a shout (unless you have a rich russian daddy)

The squad is fairly young and will gain experience.

However one problem underminig the team are rumors and ideas that float of players going to richer skies (Piquionne, Zokora, Feindouno).

I still believe they can right the ship and come back to an intertoto place.

As for Nice, well done Antonetti (ex-Verts manager) and it's only fair change for our 1-0 away win earlier this year.

how you want win if you dont have any good player in bench !!!!!!!!!

all player in bench he is very younger !!!

and mazur you call this player !!! he should play for team in legue 2 !!

and how you want win without r or l back !!

to day team play with 4 DF !!! and diwara is this R back for big team like etienne !!!

i think with this player we should be in 8 to 12 ...never dream play CL with this team and younger player !!
