The misconception the "Blacks" speak in a certain manner can really lead to some interesting situations. Had it happen to myself a couple times. But the best story belongs to a friend of mine (who is black and is "well spoken") who was trying to buy a purebred dog from a breeder. After talking on the phone with the breeder for about 15 minutes, the breeder finally confided in my friend that this particular dog didn’t like black children. Not children in general. Specifically black children. The breeder had no idea that my friend on the other end of the line was black. After my friend let the breeder know, the breeder had a real "oh Allen Hopkins is Black???" type moment. Needless to say my friend was ticked but after a while she was able to laugh at the situation.
