If we do play Canada in the next couple of months it will be an all MLS lineup.

I am sure Bruce will be looking at the young guys so who do you think will be in there?

    WHO DO YOU WANT?

(I'm putting my list together now, SCREW YOU I'M WORKING ON IT)

    ----------------Tim Howard---------------
    --------------------------------------------
    ------Pope----Bocanegra----Mulrooney--
    -------------------------------------------
    ----------Mastro----------K.Gray---------
    ----Tino----------------------------DMB--
    -------------------Landon-----------------
    --------------------------------------------
    -----------McBride------------Wolff-------

I think thats a good mix of expereince and youth. Martino, Ed Johnson, Petke, Cannon, convey, Twellman, and Danny Califf on the bench. Kelly Gray, Santino Quaranta, Kyle Martino, Joe Cannon, and Taylor Twellman could earn their first caps.

    GK:Howard
    RB:Mulrooney
    CB:Suarez
    CB:Bocanegra
    LB:Barrett
    DM:Mastroeni
RM:Kovalenko (When he gets citizenship) or Klein
    LM:Beasley
    AM:Donovan
    FW:Mathis
    FW:Twellman

If Mathis is still hurt put Landon up top with Mathis and stick Kyle Martino at attacking mid...I'd like to see Mark Lisi on the bench with Gray, Cunningham, Cannon, Davis, Jolley, and Ralston

What has Kovalenko done to deserve a call up?

He is one of the hardest working midfielders in soccer...he's quick, strong and a great distirbuter of the ball and he has brought a lot of leadership to the Fire while most of the other players where hurt...but what hasn't he done to deserve a call up?

He hasn't gotten a US passport, and probably won't get one before the end of the year. That's about all.

I though Lisi was foreign (an Aussie, perhaps?)

Arena probably won't do any only MLS Team. After such a great WC for their first real match he should include Reyna, Stewart, Sanneh, JOB, etc.

By the way, does anyone know when armas is coming back, or is he already?

    Sad really.

I thought we were beyond the days of simply calling up hard workers based on hustle alone, but I guess not.

He hasn't shown anything resembling a good soccer mind (see nearly killing his teammate DMB in the all star game).

He hasn't produced much on the pitch this season, see 7 assists (7 points) in 17 games, with no goals.

Cobi Jones has 7 assits in 11 games, and two goals to boot.

Steven Ralston has 5 goald and 15 assists (25 points in 21 games).

Chris Klein has 6 goals 4 asists (16 points from 20 games).

In 2001 he had 8 goals and 7 assists in (23 points) 25 games, as well as 30 caution points (tied for 5th in the league).

And again Cobi jones had 6 goals 10 assists (22 Points).

Steve Ralston had 7 goals and 6 assits (20 points), for the worst team in MLS history.

And, with many thanks to Claudio Reyna, it is time to see Donovan wearing the #10 jersey.

What the heck...its fun to see the lineups threads starting up again. I expect a fair amount of try outs in the early games, but here's some guesses from a guy who has seen far too little MLS this year due to not even having ESPN2.

    4-4-2
    ..........Twellman Wolff
    Beasley Donovan Pablo West
    Barrett Bocanegra Pope Mulrooney
    ...............Howard

    3-5-2
    ....Twellman Wolff
    Beasley Donovan West
    .......Pablo Mulrooney
    Bocanegra Pope Suarez
    ...........Howard

I also wouldn't be too surprised to see Convey getting a shot. Of course, he does present some problems as he's not really a back, Beasley's way ahead of him on the left wing and for the center, he's got Donovan, if he plays in midfield, and Pablo ahead of him. I've never seen Convey play on the right. Maybe a third central mid if we're playing five in the middle, but I don't know if he can handle the center of the field internationally at this point.

Kyle Martino is the future of US soccer. If you saw the Crew game last night (on Shootout or - better yet - in person), you know what I'm talking about. He's smart, sees the field, quick, has a commanding presense with intense influence, and is a terrific leader.

He was directing traffic in the Crew midfield like I've never seen in MLS. And not just when the ball was at his feet - he always made himself available, and demanded the ball; he often would instruct other players where to pass while he moved to make himself available for the next pass. He took a penalty when both Washington and Maisonneuve were on field - he demanded it.

K-Mart has improved by leaps and bounds since the beginning of the season. The kid is gonna be a star.

I don't know if they are the same, but Kovalenko has a thing called 'permanent residency'.

Brian West, speedy winger who player for Columbus for 5-6 years and then went to Norway to play. I think injuries ended his career there (Friedrickstaad sp?).

Has a couple caps (6 or 7, I think) and got a camp cupcake call as late as 2005 or '06, but injuries prevented his participation.
