His finishing is a big problem. He's been here for a while now and he's had 0 progress imo in that area. While i believe that it's a part of his skillset that will improve over time i am now starting to think whether it can ever be world class... Age imo is not an excuse for his terrible finishing. The problem imo seems both technical and mental.
He's a lot more confident in front of goal. Let's be honest if he had a killer strike he'd Already be a top 10 player in Europe.
You see that's the problem, i'm not even talking about him having "killer goal scoring instincts" or anything similar, i am just pointing out how plainly bad his shot is. It's below average even for that age group.
I think it's mental, but definitely an area for improvement. That said I am constantly impressed with his strength, speed and stamina, he can run and does get back and help his defense. Considering his age, it's kinda scare to think where he could be in a few years.
If Vini was constantly scoring, right now him would be one of the best players in the world and a top-5 winger no doubt. And that discussion was good because cheered me to see Vinícius numbers, and it was realy good, in a year and a half playing for Real Madrid his was 8 goals and 11 assist (If we count the penalties that ended in goals (Against Atlético Madrid and Girona), in 58 matchs (Of many he left the bench with little play time), Vini was directly involved in more than 20 goals (Not to mention the great performances also) if him were constantly scoring would already be a World Class player, but he will get there, no doubt.
This week’s column is on Zidane’s ability to recover players ... in this case, Vinícius. Not just Zidane: Casemiro told him what to do and Kroos told him where to go https://t.co/EJDD0mavJt— Sid Lowe (@sidlowe) March 3, 2020
we knew this would be a tough season for him but he's responded very well. I'd like to see more goals but his attitude is great and if he keeps working like this, it's all going to come together very well.
No one is questioning that, this is simply about his finishing and wondering if it can ever be on the same level as his other skills. Rodrygo is similar age and his finishing is worlds better than VJ's.
In reality Rodrygo is an exception in this case, Vinícius problem in scoring is a problem for any boy that goes up to the professionals here in Brazil recently (Even P. Coutinho suffered in his early professional years for that, only learned how to finish later)...It is a formation problem in clubs, they prioritize much more the raw talent (The dribbling, Skills, imagination, etc...) than the basic fundaments, and we only realize this when they reach the professionals levels... Not without reason many Brazilian players with enormous talent fail in Europe because they lack of basic fundaments, today times are different, talent alone is not enough, and the European giants realized this "phenomenon" and are only buying kids in the 16 - 18 age group because of that, for themselves to develop them. Danm, Vinicius said numerous time "Training in Real Madrid is sometimes more intense and more difficulty than official games in Brazil.", haha
Great post man. My fear is that it will take many years for his finishing to catch up to his other talents.
Thanks, man! And, yeah, it's not something you learn overnight, but Vini is a extremely hard work boy and he knows, him knows his needs to improve his finishing skills, is something that him always says in his interviews, and with the talent and dedication he has, i know he will succeed.
.@viniciusjr: "I had no idea that Cristiano was at the game, I celebrated like him because in the moment I felt like it. After the game the President told me that Cristiano was present at the Bernabeu - I'm glad that I helped the team like he used to in these game, he's an idol." pic.twitter.com/8ftiD5w7uU— Infinite Madrid (@InfiniteMadrid) March 3, 2020 Pique asked you if you're crazy? What happened in that moment?@viniciusjr: "I thought he stepped on me but after re-watching the replay it was Arthur, that's why he asked me if I was crazy [laughs]." pic.twitter.com/KPlAGDrPqD— Infinite Madrid (@InfiniteMadrid) March 3, 2020
Tennis has been for Pique what golf has been for Bale, but since he's so involved in the club internally and is very involved with the clubs political side, everybody shuts up about it. I think Pique is a clever guy but as a football player he's getting a lot of slack due to being so deep with the clubs culture.
For me it is purely technical. His shooting technique is bad. Which is why he has issues with finishing.
We would probably less this discuss or give more slack if we actually had a striker that scores. Regardless if it's technical or mental, I don't see an improvement so far.
He's out scoring our most expensive player ever, and without looking, probably the second most expensive as well at 19 years old. In my opinion he'll come good. Even with a full squad I would have him as a starting lineup player.
He's outscoring a 1 goal Hazard who's injured the whole year, you're really still pushing that shit. 3 goals in 1000 minutes is far from enough.
Hazard has one goal from 1124 mins in La Liga and CL. That's pretty bad even when he's fit. Vinicius has actually played lesser minutes than Hazard so far this season in Liga and CL.
Who said that it's enough? If the comparison is between a guy with over 15 years of first division football in Europe and a 19 year old guy who had his breakout last season.
