By The Clash, of course. One of the greatest records of all time. 1. London Calling 2. Brand New Cadillac 3. Jimmy Jazz 4. Hateful 5. Rudie Can't Fail 6. Spanish Bombs 7. Right Profile 8. Lost in the Supermarket 9. Clampdown 10. Guns of Brixton 11. Wrong 'Em Boyo 12. Death or Glory 13. Koka Kola 14. Card Cheat 15. Lover's Rock 16. Four Horsemen 17. I'm Not Down 18. Revolution Rock 19. Train in Vain
I love every one of these songs. But if I had to do without any of them, it would have to be Lover's Rock. Or Card Cheat. Hmmm, let me change my mind. I vote Card Cheat off.
You evil sonafabitch. It's like choosing one round of golf between Pebble Beach, Augusta or Pine Valley. I'll take a stab at it. Brand New Cadillac can go. IMO The Card Cheat will stick around for a while.
Thats funny, I just pulled this cd out this evening to listen to while I ran. One of my favourites. But I'm voting for Hateful
Brand New Cadillac can go. I never thought it fit in, from the first time I heard the album. Great album, though. Wrong 'em Boyo is one my all time faves.
I was listening to London Callnig at full volume with the top down on my way home from work, singing along like some sort of lunatic. I LOVE this record. One of my personal all time favorites.
I was going to suggest that we do London Calling for Album Survivor. Good call, Mike. I cast my first vote for The Right Profile.
I will play at some point, but my knowledge of the more obscure songs is wanting. On sunday, I will move some stuff to my new place, and among those items is a vinyl copy of London Calling. I'll give it a listen or two and get in gear with the smaller songs. It is a good call, btw, Mike. And maybe you won't go ten rounds this time choosing the same song.
I'd like to let the first round go all weekend since I'll be on a bus to the Meadowlands leaving around noon and won't get home until about 3:00 am Sunday. Oh, and Ghost, eventually my pick for Nevermind was voted off.
another for Brand New Cadillac and have anybody bought the 25th anniversary edition which include demos of the songs? What's with these Classic Rock Stations (I'm guessing all around the country as they're all owned by the big companies) suddenly adding Clash songs to their allowed songlist. I thought their audience is still content with the early-mid 70's period. Although I can see why anybody would dislike The Clash as they're stricly prohibited from playing anything but Rock the Casbah and Should I Stay or Should I Go. One really catchy, nonsenical song and another that takes a long long time to warm up to.
Get your votes in for round one. I'll tally 'em up tomorrow morning. I'm too tired and too busy to do it now.
Koka Kola. This will be fun. I'd wager if there was a separate straw poll right now, at least 14 different songs would get at least one vote for Favorite Song on the Album. In light of that, here's hoping this thread engenders several scorched earth flame wars. I've seen a few votes that constitute capital crimes already.
C'mon guys.... London Calling wasn't from Survivor, it was by The Clash. You know the group...faux punk rock meets Broadway musical. Those guys!!
