Here is more on the quake........ http://www.al.com/newsflash/nationa...C_SouthernEarthquake&&news&newsflash-national
Re: San Jose... I did not. As a matter of fact, I didn't even know about it until I looked at your message. I always knew there was a faultline in Tennessee/North Alabama though. However, thankfully, it didn't reach down here.
Surprised to see it around Georgia/Alabama border. Yikes! I hope those don't become a regular occurance! In soccer news...Clint Baumstark (formerly of UAB), did dress for last weekend's game against the NE Revolution. Baumstark signed for the Burn recently.
AL HS state playoffs start today The 1st round of state playoffs starts today. My team is playing Gadsden(girls) and Sylacauga(boys). Here is a link to the rest. http://www.AHSAAsports.com/soccer/results-2003/default.asp Chili........I think ISS girls will win 4A.
Go, kids! Just checked the AHSAA site & see that both the boys and the girls from both Homewood and Springs kicked some major butt in the first round! WOO-HOO! Mr & Mrs Chilistrider will be in B'ham next week when the USMNT plays Mexico. Dad says he gets ESPN2, so we might just stay home for the game, but I was wondering if there were any good places to see the match out? I'm thinking this might be a tricky proposition, since I'm sure the vast majority of B'ham's soccer audience will not be rooting for the red, white, and blue on the 8th! Hmm, or maybe a lot of B'ham's soccer fans will make the trip to Texas to see the game live...
Re: Go, kids! there is a lot of soccer fans but not the kind that go out to a bar/restaurant to watch a match together.
the official report Here's the word on Clint...... http://uabsports.ocsn.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/043003aaa.html
Re: San Jose... I had not yet went to bed at 4:00 am when the quake happened. It was fairly stong, I thought a helicopter was flying over the house.
Women's WC in B'ham? My brother emailed the Alabama Sports Foundation and asked were they trying to land some WWC games and they emailed him back and said they were in fact. Good news especially if it happens.
