Joy For Ajax As Machlas & Koeman Make Peace Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam have been boosted by the news their Greek striker Nikos Machlas made up with coach Ronald Koeman... SoccerAge

A less optimistic view on the game. Bergdolmo is the liability in defense. http://www.ajax-usa.com/ajax/matches/02-03/0901.html Includes a link to video of the goals.
Ajax certainly hasn't had an excellent start. A lucky start. With this level of play we'll get butchered in Europe.
28 league titles, 15 Dutch Cup victories, 4 European Championships, etc.. must really get under the skin of supporters of other Dutch clubs.Sometimes enough to generate virulent anti-Ajax sentiment. The historical relationship between Ajax and Amsterdam's jewish community seems to come in for particular attention ,including anti-semitism(NOTE:For a historical persective on this relationship, read Simon Kupers excellent "Ajax, de Joden, De Nederland". A translated version is available at the Ajax-USA site).Witness the disgusting "Hamas, Hamas ,all Jews to the gas" garbage before last Aprils AJAX v. FC Utrecht fixture. I lived six years in Belfast, 1981 to 1987. Nothing can ever compare to the racism and virulent hate I saw displayed there almost routinely; like a grenade being tossed into a crowd of soccer supporters. But, some hooligans are threatening to close the gap on the some of those I witnessed 15 years ago and more.As some of my Belfast friends might say..Hooligans Get tae F&*K!
If I would call a white man a dirty ****************** would I be a racist? I don't see these chants as anti-semitism. Besides, at Ajax we have enough chants that can hardly be called friendly too.
PS. Van der Vaart is out for aprox 6 weeks after sustaining an injury the match vs Belarus. DAMN!!! Thank God Jari is back...
If those chants aren't anti-Semitic then there must be no such thing. I was checking out an Utrecht anti-Ajax page and it had a lot of anti-Semitic and racist stuff on it. They even have the Hamas chant on t-shirts now... AFCA, I could be wrong but from what I've heard Ajax being a "Jewish club" is somewhat of a myth. Even though there is a Jewish population in Amsterdam the club wasn't founded by Jews. However, groups like the F-Side have embraced and took the image of being Jewish even though they really aren't. Which is the reason for their logo and Israeli flags at games.
Under most definitions of racism, if you implied or stated that he was such because he was white, yes it would be racist.
Chanting about Jews burning in ovens (remember the Holocaust?) and calling for the death of Jews isn't directed towards Jews? What does that mean??? It doesn't matter who it is directed to, it offends people who are Jewish. I don't see how you can argue that.
delo_plata's point remains the same. If you insult someone because of their race or you even mention it, that'd be considered racist. Well, in most places at least.
