Amando Moreno is starting too. I initially missed him. Assumed it was their normal #9, Dayro Moreno. They're both in.
Arriola is too predictable. Everybody knows he's just trying to work back to his right foot (too many guys in our pool like that). Still earned a corner just now. On the ensuing corner, Orozco got free but missed the diving header. Should have put it on frame.
Dangerous cross by Orozco to Dayro Moreno. Ajudged just offside I think. Amando fought for a loose ball in the box, using his body to shield a defender, but got knocked down before he could get possession. Had a penalty shout.
nil-nil in the end. One-word descriptions of performances: Moreno - lively Orozco - steady Arriola - ineffectual Requejo - underwhelming
It was always somewhat evident even when he was coming off the bench, but I think he's even regressed in that department and overall soon after earning the starting nod. Used to at least cut in here and there and play a hard square pass to the edge of the box or create a half chance that he'd usually sky or with some combo play. 90% of the time now he's either diving to the end line initially or after hesitation. Really disappointing, because he showed a lot of promise as a bench player. Definitely earned his starts a long time ago. But now that he's gotten them, he hasn't seized the opportunity, so it should be back to the bench until they really need him to start again. Only thing that might save him is it appears Klinsmann has some sort of deal with Herrera, i.e.: he'll steer youth players away from L.A. and toward Tijuana. This yank invasion with the first team coincides directly with Klinsmann's appearance at a Tijuana match, and before that he was schmoozing Herrera in L.A. Good news out of this game is that Amando Moreno was promising, in a starting capacity, and I think it's telling he went '90. Wasn't really the reason Tijuana were held scoreless I don't think.
