Got this from over on BS/US News Japaneese television of all places! (Video download) http://www.fnn-news.com/realvideo/sp2002082808_G2.ram
Great stuff. Seems very mature for his age, plus the dribbling skills don't hurt. Can't wait to see him develop.
Thanks for the photos, Andy. Didn't realize Adu's a lefty. Hope he lives up to his potential. Might get crucified for saying this, but I thought a couple of the face shots bore a resemblance to Pele. Am I just dreaming?
The age controversy will still continue though. They said he was mature for his age, but didn't give it. Anyway, how come we can't get an American broadcast like this?
His dribbling looked amazing; he's obviously very skilled. Its great to finally see him play. However, after looking at him, he looks older than 13. Maybe I'm wrong, but size is going to be an issue down the road for him. He may really be thirteen, but how much will he develop physically from this point? At worst, he's a Beasley type. Left-footed, small speedy wing player who can cause havoc. At best........
Have you seen him in person? Or are you basing this on the Japanese TV report? As for your last question...are you suggesting that the typical 13 year old (or even 16 year old) is finished growing? What species are you talking about?
You need glasses. For the 10,000th time. He is NOT BIG. I'm 5-8 and he's shorter than me. His technical skill is well beyond his age,no doubt, but when you talk to him, listen to his word usage, etc... (and his English is quite good so that's not it), that he's 13 is very believeable. The only thing about him that is out of context with his age is that he's brilliant on a soccer field.
Sounds like he's been in the U.S. awhile. Doesn't seem like the type that would lie about age. Amazing skills.
In the early teens, generally between 13-15 growth can vary by as much as 24 months. + or - And additional growth can be experience as late as into the twenties (re: David Robinson at Navy) Anyone worried about the size of this kid is nuts whether he's 13 or 16.
