There were three whose teams played, one was victorious.

Claus Jensen did not get into the game, but his Denmark team qualified for Euro 2004.

Matt Holland's Ireland team lost in Basel 2-0 to Switzerland. Holland was replaced by former Addicks skipper Mark Kinsella in the 74th minute.

Hreidarsson played 90 minutes for Iceland and scored off a corner kick, only to have it disallowed. Germany than scored in quick sucession to make the match 3-0. By most accounts, Hreidarsson played very well. This is good for Charlton.

Brazil beat a Kevin Lisbie-less (ruled out with a knee injury) Jamaica 1-0 at Leicester City’s Walkers Stadium the following day, thanks to a Roberto Carlos strike.

And South Africa – missing Shaun Bartlett, who has been receiving treatment for tonsillitis – beat Costa Rica 2-1 the previous day.
