Fox will just figure US soccer fans are more organized -- in which case they should still reconisider schedules. Organized fans can support sponsors too -- or not.

Two of them have "inside" stories that will attract some folks:

tour de france: Can Lance win it AGAIN? Its his retirement year
British Open: Jack Nicklaus's last international tournament, Open was changed to St. Andrew's just for Jack to play it one more time. Though he probably won' tmake the cut so it will loose out on weekend audience.

the others: any all-star game rots, however soccer would probably be one of the more fun ones to watch. Baseball is a snoozer.

NFL training camps? My God, talk about boring.

    Edit:
MLS second place behind the NFL training camps, sheesh.

STill in 2nd. I'm looking forward more to watching the Gold Cup in Spanish - which I don't understand or any regular season MLS game that counts than the MLS AllStar game. But the AllStar game is still ahead of any of the others. :)

Something definately. When people get more excited about watching teams practicing rather than watching games. Just don't get it.

Still stuffing. MLS down to 19% (still in second), NFL training camps up to 30%. Looks like BigGridiron.com is stuffing the poll too.

Truth be told I'm realy not that excited about the All star game that much, sure I'm gonna watch but I'd prefer an East v West or US v World to the best in MLS playing Fulham. If we don't win it will terribly humiliating that the best players in our league can't beat the 16th best team in England. If we do win it really won't prove anything, just that the best in the MLS can beat Fulham. If anything I'm more excited about the Galaxy playing Real Madrid because it is a real team versus a real team.

Now NFL training camp is exciting because believe it or not there are people out there who like the NFL as much as the people on this board like soccer. Those people probably think you're crazy for caring about Earthquake reserve games since they don't count anything towards the MLS standings, which is essentially what NFL training camp is, a chance to see who can cut it and who can't. It also gives the fans a chance to interact with the players up close and for the kids to get autographs.

As for the poll I voted for the British Open since I love watching golf when all the best players are playing. IMO Sundays at major championships are one of the top five most exciting things in sports.

I don't think it's that bad if we lose... a club team should be favored to beat an all-star team most of the time by virtue of being better-organized, unless the all-star team is overwhelmingly more talented and/or has a lot of players from the same club connecting with each other.
