That's what the latest news sounds like:

    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2011/07/fort-hood-.html

Texas police say a newly arrested Muslim American Army private has admitted planning to attack fellow troops at the famous Ft. Hood Army base in Killeen.

Following a tip from a suspicious retired police officer now working at a local gun shop, Killeen police arrested Pfc. Naser Jason Abdo on Wednesday during a traffic stop.

He'll probably face federal charges after FBI agents reported finding a large amount of bomb-making materials in his hotel room not far from the base.

The 21-year-old had gone AWOL from Ft. Campbell, Ky., after refusing deployment to Afghanistan on religious grounds and then being charged with possession of child pornography during his discharge process.

I wonder if the media ever referred to Ted Kozincky (sp?) as an atheist fundamentalist. or a science fundamentalist. or envirofundamentalist?

Has Kaczynski ever formally professed any of these religions?
He could just as easily been called an anarchist, an academician, or a post-industrialist!

The individual in question was known to be Muslim given the past publicity that he had received. So, no real controversy here.

One bit of interesting data I found on this over the weekend. I found about a dozen different articles that stated he jumped up and shouted the gunmans name in the Ft. Hood shootings. I only found ONE article that stated he jumped up, shouted the gunmans name AND the name of a girl that was raped and killed by US servicemen about 5 years ago.
