Does anyone else think it's time for a new subtitle for the Washington Freedom forum? I'm just a little tired of the common and repeated belief that our team consists of Mia Hamm plus nobody else worth mentioning, particularly when that sentiment comes out of the mouth of someone like Fotop, who ought to know better. I had hoped we could lay claim to "Champions of WUSA," but obviously we're going to have to wait on that one. And I'm too wiped out from my trip to Atlanta to come up with brilliant ideas right now, but I'm sure the resident geniuses here can make some delightful suggestions.
I'm not clever enough to think of anything...but the Freedom were definitely the comeback kids this season and maybe some reference should be made to that...
She really ought to have known better. I honestly liked Fotop until she said that...like there's no one else on the team. I don't despise her now, but I certainly don't like her. Something like that should be kept to yourself, because it's certainly not true. I say go with something like, "Let Freedom Ring", but that's too simple.
There's a poll on the Freedom site talking about mottos for the Freedom- we could put on whatever wins. or something like "Founders Cup '03 or Bust" : )

How about "More than just Mia - we ARE a team Fotop!" I know it's kinda long, and I'm one of those unabashed Mia lovers, but this really IS a team and Fotop's remark surprized me. The Freedom made a remarkable turnaround, yes, sparked by Mia's incredible drive, but unlike the hapless Power, that became a one woman team behind poor Milbrett, who got shut down at home as well, actually pulled together and did something. We got scoring from a lot of players and our defense shut down other team's big guns. We ARE a team! If you don't want the personal "dig" in there, leave off Fotop. Oh wait - how about "We ARE a team!! AND we have Mia!" Norma
Sounds kind of petulant to me (one step short of "We are SO a team!"). Maybe step it down a notch: "A team with Mia." No, not sure I like that, either.
If you go to their forum, you'll see a thread much like this one where they're trying to come up with an alternative.
I have plenty of sugestions. Unfortunatly most would get me redcarded. Um how about "It's on now"......no? Ok how about sarcasm... "...and Abby, Siri, Bai Jie, Grubb, Steffi, The Littles, Mak, Wei Wei, Cookie etc...and you don't" I'm grasping at straws here people.
I was thinking this morning about changing the subtitle every few weeks: "We have Abby ... and you don't." "We have Jen ... and you don't." "We have Siri ... and you don't." "We have white-on-rice ... and you don't." "We have Tracey ... ...." Well, maybe we draw the line someplace.

Yes, it is true, but it's also something everyone knows and it's about the only thing everyone knows (or cares) about our team. Can we come up with something that is enlightening, entertaining, significant, and true rather than just the same-old, same-old?
I think my statement came off a little wrong. Sorry bout that. I wasn't saying that all we had was Mia, because I know that's what everyone else apparently thinks. What I was saying is, we do have her, there's no point in hiding her. I think we should have a subtitle that has nothing to do with any player on the team. It was silly to lay the whole team at Mia's feet to begin with.

Um I have nothing remotely constructive to add, but at the same time I can't help myself from posting the following.... "it's on now bitches! Bring it!" "We don't whine when our team loses" "Fear this!" "step up and get some!" well you get the idea. There is one i'm reluctant to share. not on this board anyway.
I got this suggestion via email from a fellow Freedom fan. "We win as a team. We lose as a team." Mia said that.
