Exactly one month from today will be the one-year anniversary. Where will you be? Any plans? I'm definitely not going into work. Then again I'm definitely not staying home either. I'm planning on taking the train into mid-town Manhattan from NJ on 9/11/02, just like I did a year before when I watched the towers burning from the train window. This time I'm going to head downtown I think ... What about you?
Note to the wise...stay out of Manhattan, or any other major urban area or sports event on September 11th. These terrorist clowns have a thing for marking anniversaries with another big act of destruction.
I am living in Taiwan now, but I am sure I will find some way to remember the day. Of course, most of the ceremonies will be during the evening of 9/11 Chinese time. I will likely be doing what I was doing on 9/11, praying.
I'll be having my second day of class, but if there's gonna be some kinda candle light vigil, I'll take part in it for sure. Still can't believe it has almost been a year. . . . .
Re: Re: 9/11/02 Where will you be? Thanks for the advice but Manhattan is my home. As I've told my family, do not let terrorists dictate the way you live. Remember the victims and carry on with your life.
Re: Re: Re: 9/11/02 Where will you be? Well, ok, good luck with the bravado but chest-beating will get you nowhere when standing next to a car bomb.
Re: Re: Re: Re: 9/11/02 Where will you be? What chest beating? Do you want me to live under a rock? Yes, a car bomb will kill me. So will a car accident, a fall and many other things. I'm not going to leave the place of my birth because three thousand people were murdered a mile from where I live.
I'll be at home after not getting a job for the summer. Or watching teletext if Blackburn are playing. Oh what a rock and roll life I have .
I'll probably be picking up my parents at the airport. Our daughter was born on Sept. 12th, 2001 and nothing keeps my mom from seeing her grandkids on their birthdays. She was also out on the first flight she could get last year to see her.
I'll be working. Gonna be a weird day though. Most if not all media outlets (print, internet, TV, radio) will be flooding us with 9/11 stuff. There is really no way to escape it. I may become jaded to everything.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 9/11/02 Where will you be? No, I don't want you to live under a rock. But, you told your family "don't let terrorists dictate the way you live". That's like telling your kids, "don't worry about avoiding crime-infested neighborhoods because you have the right to walk down those streets". Or, telling your daughter, "don't let the potential rapists out there dictate the way you dress. Go ahead and walk out on Martin Luther King Boulevard in your thong, honey." It's just common sense that the one year anniversary of the biggest terrorist attack in history poses a higher risk for a repeat occurrence. I, personally, would not take a flight or go to a high-profile sporting event or concert on that date. Everyone can do as they choose but also face the consequences of their actions.
I would love to see this on 9/11 After all of the rememberance ceremonies in NY and Washington are over, I would love to see President Bush get on TV, outline the evidence we have that Saddam Hussein was involved and annouce that our jets were on the way and that we will level the he!l out of Baghdad in ten minutes.
It sounds like your mom is gutsy as hell or crazy, but either way she sounds pretty damn determined to live her life as she sees fit so I give her props for that alone.
