Team news -- sportinglife.com Tim Howard scheduled to start in goal for Everton, in the Toffees' visit to White Hart Lane. Live on FSC at 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET (and 12 midnight for me here, Melbourne time).
First of three straight Yank matches on FSC today. Man City follows at noon (ET) and then Reading at 2:30 (ET). Happy, happy, joy, joy.
I wish we got the Reading match today -- I'd take that one over the Man City one at 2 a.m. Melbourne time here. Going to have to wait for the highlights show on Monday night, then. Not to mention, tomorrow night, live game from the Coca-Cola Championship, on Fox Sports 1: Sheffield Wednesday v Leeds United. Eddie Lewis in action. Nice to have an embarrassment of choices over there.
Everton: Howard, Neville, Yobo, Lescott, Naysmith, Osman, Carsley, Arteta, Kilbane, Cahill, Johnson Subs: Wright, Hibbert, Weir, Beattie, McFadden
Howard has had little to do thus far in the game - but has been calm. Had to deal with a hard charging Lennon and did well to get the ball cleared *just* in time.
Hmm - my feed is lagged. Howard looked uncomfortable on the free kick - ball was deflected but luckily right to him.
HT. Sky announcers were complaining about Kilbane's first yellow (which I didn't see) but he was out of control wll before his last foul-Howard came out of his box to I believe scream at Kilbane for not lining up close enough on a FK he'd given away.. Case of the red mist I imagine.. Howard's looked alright and seemed to come out decisively on a couple balls. Second half should be fun.
I'm not an Everton fan, but the first card on Kilbane was a load of crap. The card that sent him off should have been his first. Also, there was a tackle that occurred prior to the first Kilbane yellow, in which Davids was tackled from DIRECTLY BEHIND by Tim Cahill, essentially 2-footed. No card at all. If you ask me, the ref has done a very poor job.
I'm just disappointed that the Gladbach game isn't on GolTV today, because otherwise my weekend involves every other large bald man the US puts in goal: today's games, plus Blackburn/Chelsea and Revs/Crew tomorrow. Highlight of the game so far: Timmy smacking Naismith upside the head.
Timmy wanting to clear everything up field - not sure why he doesn't want to just keep possession down a man.
Announcers are cutting Davenport a lot of slack for the OG. Only Arsenal and ManU won here last year.
