I am going to the Czech Republic-Slovakia match tonight. It is the first time these teams have played each other since 1997. Martin Vaniak, Sigma Olomouc, might get the start in goal tonight over Cech.

Just seen on BBC news 24 that there was a mini riot of sorts afterwards, though not as bad as the authorities were expecting.

    Can't find a link yet.

    Czech Republic 4 Slovakia 1
    in Olomouc, att 12000

CR clearly dominated the game and Slovakia were reduced to the counter attack. Slovakia actually scored the first goal in the 15th minute after the CR keeper, Martin Vaniak, made a horrible error and couldn§t hang on to the ball. The CR tied the score at one just before the end of the half. The CR fielded a much younger team in the second half, and Petr Cech replaced Vaniak in goal. Cech is an amazing keeper and someone to watch in the future. He is 21 and plays for Rennes in France. He also led the CR U21 side to the European title earlier this year. The game was just about sold out, except for the visitor section. Near the end of the match there was a minor incident between the police and Slovak supporters. A smoke bomb, I believe, was let off twice to try to calm them down but it only made things worse. They tried to tear up the seats, smash the plexi glass etc... Earlier in the section someone light a stick of some sort... it burned for a few minutes then exploded smoke backwards.. making the people sitting behind them scatter.
