Maybe the mods will move this to the coaching section but does anyone have any ideas on formations or strategies for a 4v4 tournament. I'm coaching a team of mostly 12 year old girls who have all played for 6 or more years. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I think you're going to end up playing a diamond 1-2-1 formation. I would think that you'll end up having players interchanging their roles on the fly as they react to the different tactical situations.

Changing the players to each position is a good idea, however Iv found out that your best skilled player who likes to attack the most likes to play in the back of the diamond, they have more room to attack from and too...Have fun!!

I agree with the 1-2-1 setup and the assessment of most skilled players anchoring the team. Preferably one with speed as well if no goalies are used. If it is 4v4 with goalies, then you can cheat on the speed a bit. I have also seen teams using 2-1-1 if they have speed and skill up front.
