The last minute of this presser tells us that Yeboah is out. Porter spends the whole press conference saying the subs need to be better while beating around the bush and not naming anyone. He says some guys might not play again this season. Then, he calls out Yeboah in the last minute for not closing out the match.
Impression from listening to that presser: CP is a “them, they” and “me, I” kind of guy. Not “we” and “us.” It’s about him. Not the sign of a good leader. I said last year a good coach gets the best out of the players he has, and CP doesn’t do that. This year many of us have noted CP exemplifying the definition of insanity as he does the same things over and over (same lineups, same slow play out of the back, trying to bunker with a 1-goal lead) and expecting different results. Now this presser. We won’t make the playoffs. That will be a merciful thing. That will be the final straw.
What i see is Porter doesn’t like his roster his has not a lot of good options . He had tried everything and no tactic had worked. It’s the players simply not making plays. I think In his mind he believes it’s only the players but obviously it’s both. If he can’t motivate them then maybe they just don’t like Porter. Either way i won’t shed any tears when he is gone. I just hope we get better players either way wether he is fired or not. Crew maybe need a culture change but than in and of itself isnt going to thrust us to the top of the standings next year. Would really like to hear Bez comments soon. If we don’t make the playoffs then Porter should be fired. My guess is he will say we will evaluate after the season.
Porter is an ass. He thinks he’s Jose but he’s just an average Joe. Meanwhile, to Timmy B….he has to have put together the absolute most pathetic group of players in the air. We have zero players who can defend a set piece, are dangerous on corners, and leave us virtually one dimensional.
It's weird how the players we have for the first 75 minutes of every game are like a top 5 team in the league, but the ones we have for the last 15 aren't even good enough to make the playoffs. That's a rough hand Porter's been dealt, for sure.
Maybe? Maybe‽ Look, things just cannot continue as they are. You cannot have your players going out there believing in their heart of hearts that no matter how well they play, how well they execute the game plan, that things are inevitably going to go sideways at the end and all their work will be for nothing. You cannot have defenders flailing away at the ball in the final minutes instead of looking for an outlet because they know it's eventually going to fall to an attacker for a goal anyway, and they just don't want it to be their fault this time. You cannot have your goalkeeper see a shot come at him in stoppage time and know that it's going in whether he dives for it or not. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy. Maybe it's not Porter's fault. Maybe he'll go on to win another cup at his next stop. But right now, more than anything else, this team needs a scapegoat. In the literal, old testament sense of the word. We need something that we can tie the sins of the past year to, and then take it out back and drown it in the ********ing lake. Porter is, for better or worse, the only one who can fill that role. Is it fair? Perhaps not. Maybe replacing the coach will have no more actual effect than ritiualistically murdering a barnyard animal. Doesn't matter. What matters is whether people believe it will.
That is... awesome. You would think that Room has been around long enough to know that Columbus fans are not too scared to eat their own.
This is a team that has personnel who can compete with Detroit City. Gifting an 86th to them was brandished as unlucky and we are seeing the results of nothing needing to change.
Who chose to play the team we fielded -- I don't think it was Bez. I would also contend that, with the exception of Hurtado, everyone who saw the pitch that night could get a starting job for DCFC.
Room deleted it, which I think makes it worse. The Haslam teams (aside from Crew 2) made the last day of my vacation not fun, and now players from the crew and the browns are arguing with fans on twitter. Not great Bob.
I can't recall exactly the verbiage but "So's your old man" is a reasonable interpretation. "Jane, you ignorant slut" might be another, or perhaps " up your nose with a rubber hose" Seriously, his response was " say that to my face, bitch" or words to that effect.
I think the open cup isn’t important . Yes we still should of won and honestly Zardes should have been starting first team and not playing. I would think Bez & Porter discussed roster strategy and the importance of the open cup. Porter perhaps was allowed to have the final say. I have no idea but the open Cup loss was certainly disappointing. Someone said our back ups do scrimmage vrs crew2 and easily beat them . But honestly i would love to see it and if all the young guys were on Crew 2 i would think they could win based off of chemistry by playing together vrs the Crew players 12-22
