Kvara out and everyone is pushing panic buttons. This is why squad management is important. You need to manage the subs better
Osi went beast mode. The way he won the ball and boxed out the defender was exactly what I like to see more of.
Not an easy game, but a good win without Kvara. Sloppy at times, but credit to Atalanta for constant pressure. Credit to Meret as well for two huge stops on what looked like sure goals.
Not easy to win in Bergamo, without the Georgian sensation no less. It really is Napoli's championship to lose at this point.
Atalanta are for real. They might not have the magic of seasons past, but they are at the beginning of new cycle. They can still pressure teams very well. The fact that they are not playing in Europe this year helps them a lot. If they had a striker, they’d have more points on the board. Guys like Lookman and Hojlund have been excellent pickups. Elmas got the goal, but I still don’t like him as an advanced left winger. He ********s around with the ball way to much and doesn’t always make the best decision. Shame that Zerbin isn’t good enough to carry half the Kvara load. Also Lozano is capable of playing on the LW. I don’t know why it’s either him or Politano on the right. Spalletti can start both between Osimhen
So, all in all, this game has shown that we have, luckily, more than one decisive, extraordinary player. It has also shown that we have only one decisive, extraordinary winger, and he was on the bench yesterday with back pain. Lozano improved his game a bit, but mostly as a result of Kvara's brilliance rather than his own skill. Politano is good, but honestly, not too high above average. I expect more from both, since right now Kvara is a million miles away, a million miles away.
Do you guys have any World Cup-eligible players? If Spalletti plays his cards well enough, its a Scudetto and a fairly interesting late CL run if the dominoes fall your way.
Let’s not talk about winning anything just yet… we have been winter champions before just to screw it up in the 2nd half of the season…
True, but at the same time previous iterations of Napoli have never been this good, at least not since 1990.
Kim, Zielinski, Anguissa, Lozano, Mario Rui, Olivera and maybe Simeone who was added on the short list.
Wow another huge away result. We've now won away from home against each of the remaining 3 current top 4 sides. If we beat Empoli on Tuesday and Udinese on Saturday we SHOULD be safe from relegation.
You don't think it's debatable? I think it's debatable. Maybe you're emphasizing names on paper over team performance on a pitch? In any case, as good as Higuain and a 27 year old Insigne were, they're not humiliating Klopps Liverpool at home 4 - 1 (in a game where they should have scored 6 or 7) and then later walking into Amsterdam and bulldozing Ajax 1-6. Italian clubs simply don't do that, ever.
As good as those other teams were in the past, they never had a CL group stage like what we just witnessed. I won't jinx the rest.
