    Hey everyone,

First things first: methinks it's time to rename the forum, no @edcalvi @IASocFan @Wiso ? :D

Now that we've almost completed a full Champions Cup qualifying cycle under the new format, one holdover from the CCL era remains Mexico sending teams before everyone else. And after the NBA-style play-in concluded this weekend, the following Apertura quarterfinalists will seek the first tickets in the 2025 edition:

    Club América vs. Club León
CF Monterrey vs. Atlético San Luis
    Tigres UANL vs. Club Puebla
    Pumas UNAM vs. Chivas

Thanks for reminding me that we had to rename the forum. I had totally forgotten about that detail. You're the best @Paul Calixte

And we have our first team in! Probably could've posted this in midweek, but I wanted to be respectful and wait for the mathematical certainty :D

So, um, gotta address this here:

As far as anyone knows, the Champions Cup berth for the Open Cup winner would remain regardless; but even with an easier path for lower-league clubs, this is shocking, and all the more if the US federation accedes to it.

So the USSF shot down the above... o_O

While we see how that plays out, there is a tangible update on the qualifying front: América took home the Apertura title, and have the inside track on Liga MX's top berth after a record point haul in the regular season.

    Great move by the USSF.

The US Open Cup is a historic tournament that deserves respect and it's our equivalent to the FA Cup.

    Guess who's back, back, back

    Back again!

And from what I can tell from my Twitter contacts, the plan is to have split seasons, in order to send the spring season finalists to the Caribbean Cup:

...aaaaaaaand we've already had a game postponed due to insecurity

Been a while since we checked in with the field for our next continental championship, so here goes a regional round-up!

    CARIBBEAN & CENTRAL AMERICA

...ok, we'll presumably circle back to them in late May/early June as the draws for the Caribbean Cup, Caribbean Shield and Central American Cup approach.

    NORTH AMERICA

With two matchdays to go in the Liga MX Clausura, we have a couple important updates to acknowledge:

Our first seeded team has already been confirmed, as no one can catch defending champs América in the full-year table! As well, Monterrey will finish as, at worst, the best non-finalist team; the other full-year berth is currently a three-way race between Chivas, Pumas and Toluca... yeah, we're slowly learning that Liga MX finally rewarding regular-season performance has made continental success harder than ever for the rest of us o_O

After three more sides get in through the end of the Clausura, the first qualifiers north of the Río Grande (...if any) will emerge from Leagues Cup in July and August:

The Voyageurs' Cup will conclude in September, by which time we may learn the winner of the CPL regular season as well; the US Open Cup Final will take place at the end of the month, after which we'll follow the MLS season to its conclusion.
