I hate that we have to start this thread so early, but ... here we are. Not sure when we will start hearing things. I’m told players will be notified of Roster Moves / Decisions tomorrow. #NERevs— Caleb Pongratz (@CalebPongratz10) November 9, 2023 Of course if this is true, the question is ... who' is making these decisions?
Jon Kraft knows nothing about running a soccer club and that's why they've always clung to people they believe do (O'Donovan, Gulati, Bilello, Burns), so I think it's very unlikely unless they already have a DoS.
Today's roster decisions probably won't be made public until late tonight. At least Capi seems to have a good attitude towards 2024: “Sometimes you learn more from difficult moments” | Gil hopes 2023 challenge serves Revs well in new era Caroline Oatway Friday, Nov 10, 2023, 12:36 PM
That the Krafts believe that list is people that know something about running a soccer club speaks volumes to the idiotic buffoonery of their ownership
This probably doesn't belong here, but ... Vaclik seems to imply that his signing wasn't actually approved by Hitchcock. Tomas Vaclik explains why he didn't play for the New England Revolution this season. He says that #NERevs goalkeeping coach Kevin Hitchock doesn't really talk to him.The attached screenshots have been translated.https://t.co/QIhx2I2XRX pic.twitter.com/436xnVpyAt— Seth (@SethMan31) November 10, 2023
If Hitchcock, the guy who ID'd Turner and brought in Petro, wasn't involved and maybe even disagreed with Vaclik's signing, then I'm more inclined to side with the guy who knows GKs over anyone else
I have kept an eye on the Rev's site, no mention of team roster decisions yet, imagine this could be dragged out for some time. I bet they understand if they announce any roster decisions then fans will want to know WHO made the decisions, something they won't disclose for some time is my thought.
And if that explains why he didn't play, we still don't know whether he can play. And, even more, it opens questions about whether this whole conflict prevent them from doing what was in the best interest of winning? And then, imagine what the players are thinking witnessing a player brought in to fill a key absence and then frozen out? Are they supposed to be dedicated to winning while witnessing all this infighting, pettiness and factionalization?
Key Offseason Dates: Nov. 22 - Deadline to submit Bonafide Offers Dec. 1 - Deadline to Exercise Options Dec. 6 - Dec. 9 - MLS College Showcase Dec. 11 - Trade Window Dec. 12 - End-Of-Year Waivers Dec. 13 - Free Agency Opens Dec. 14 - Re-Entry Process Stage 1 Dec. 19 - MLS SuperDraft Dec. 21 - Re-Entry Process Stage 2
These dates are worthless to fans if the Revs management fails to keep us updated on any progress they are making to organizing a new coaching team. When will we hear which team members are returning? Not a peep since last week and its still unclear who is making team roster decisions and who is going to be back next season.
The closer we get to those deadlines without a sporting director, the more you have to think Onalfo will be given the reigns. A) if we're going with onalfo why don't we just announce it and hire a coach B) what a disappointment
Key Offseason Dates: Nov. 13 - The day I decided I wouldn't waste money on '24 season tix because the team is rudderless.
What are the odds the Revs have either a new Sporting Director or HC by Dec 1? Probably a safe bet they are going to retread a known MLS person as they have zero imagination or desire to take a chance.
I'd be amazed if they have any position filled by mid December. They just don't operate with urgency on anything except pimping the Messi game
And, when they finally decide to hire someone, there'll be the warning that it will take some time to come-up-to-speed, not to mention the primary focus will be on finding a coach, while roster decisions get neglected or get made by the wrong people without clear direction.
Half a season to gel, then attempt to win a few games and turn the season around. Until we have a few season ending injuries and then the staff give up on that season.
