We need to pepper the keeper with shots. She has shown that she plays the position stupidly and punches when she should catch and dose not play, when asked, even remotely, fast enough when playing balls on the ground. I think the only way this gets close, even if Colombia ups their play level, is if the USA goes down to 10 players and Colombia does not. A real possibility with this incompetent referee.
Colombia is focused on delaying play, fouling and disrupting play and just let Lavelle go down the sideline into the box looking for an assist.
Good job by the US to slow things down when they didn't have numbers for a counter. Unfortunate that the long ball did not find Nighswonger, but it was the right idea. Another long ball was just off again and after a calm recovery on defense. The clearance/long ball is off because of who is being asked to do it. This is a strange shape. I am kind of surprised there is no third place match in this tournament. At least I have heard nothing about it and the announcers have not said a word about any such. Maybe it is that there is nothing for the third place team to gain but it would be one more revenue generating match for CONCACAF?

Every date in the tournament except for the final is a doubleheader. A 3rd-place would be a doubleheader with the final, which shouldn't need an extra match to build up interest. The semifinal losers will have played five matches; let the players go back to their clubs.
