The playoff race is in full swing! This past week had THREE scoreless draws, where the less said, the better about them. There was a cracking game between Orlando and the Crew at Exploria. Orlando scored three late unanswered goals to beat the Crew 4-3. It was the tale of two halves in Chester as Philly and FCC ended in a 2 all stalemate. The Whitecaps poured more misery on their Canadian rivals TFC. The champs ran out 4-2 winners in El Traffico. And in the battle of teams in turmoil, the Rapids sent their faithful home happy! They beat the Revs 2-1. This week sees a full slate of Wednesday night games. Can Montreal slow down Cincy's march to the Shield at Stade Saputo? Sporting KC looks to continue their resurgence when they visit Geodis Park to take on Nashville. CITY welcome the Champs to the Gateway City. The Rapids look to build on their victory against New England when they welcome the Sounders to DSG. The Galaxy take on Minnesota in what could be a high scoring game. The weekend sees another full slate of games too! In a rematch of last seasons MLS Cup Final LAFC visits Subaru Park for only the second time in MLS league play to take on the Union. Atlantic Cup Rivals DC and Red Bulls will tussle in the Nation's Capital. Allianz Field will be the setting for the Loons and CITY clash. FC Dallas welcome former HSG team Columbus to Toyota Stadium. The Weekend is capped off with a Florida Derby when Orlando welcome Miami to the City Beautiful. As usual all game times are eastern. National broadcasts & Free games are listed. Of all home games for me to miss I won't be watching Seattle at the Dick Wednesday night. My wife got tickets for Sting at Red Rocks.
Red Rocks Sting or the Dick with Sounders ... this decision seems more appropriate for a fetish forum than soccer.
New England is idle on the midweek slate, which is probably a welcome break for the team, given what's been going on since the end of July. Seattle have the weekend off. As usual jaykoz3---good preview of the upcoming matches! I would take issue with the scoreless draw between Montreal and Chicago being a boring affair. Montreal did everything but score against the Fire. They had 5 shots go just wide of the net, they hit the crossbar once, and Chris Brady made 4 good quality stops for Chicago to preserve the draw. The biggest disappointment in those 0-0 draws was the fact that a total of 85,377 fans in New York, Montreal, and Charlotte went home shaking their heads.
I know there are a couple of posters here (one in particular) who wonder why everyone plays it out of the back. Well, when a non-league team can do this it helps: Just a 37 pass move leading to a goal from National League side Gateshead last night. That was some awful defending. A half hearted press up top, then no pressure as they moved it up field.
I have never seen a team miss as many shots as Atlanta did pregame which of course means they'll win in a comb.
Bruce Murray is nearsighted, if you didn’t know. Probably explains his unbridled (and unwarranted) enthusiasm for certain aspects of DC United’s play.
Own goal by Austin in the 7th minute has given the Red Bulls an early lead. Cucho Hernandez converts a PK in the 8th to give Columbus the early lead on Chicago.
