For me the best kits are: Vancouver - have they had a kit? FC Dallas - That kit is fire! St Louis Secondary - Just clean NYCFC Portland The Meh kits: Nashville - Johnny Cash is cool, but this is just a black T-Shirt Charlotte - swing and a miss for me SKC - Been there done that By and large, the clubs took risks this year and moved away from monochrome kits For the most part, they all did a good job. Minnesota took a huge swing with their kit. Not sure if that lands. IMO Columbus needs to move away from the all black kit, or at least get more creative. Philly's kit is growing on me. They had a tall task following up their last away kit, which is their best kit ever. They stayed outside the box, which is what a secondary kit should do. I really like RBNY's kit. Houston's is okay, it's she wolf. Seattle, very nice, good homage to a local legend DCU's is subtle and classy The Revs, bolder than their usual fair. Rapids effort is solid Galaxy and LAFC are okay Atlanta's is a good update to their primary look Chicago's would look better with a sponsor. Austin - good primary kit update Cincy, San Jose and RSL are all okay
Noticed yesterday that the new kit has a green back instead of black. That takes it from OK to winner for me... except we'll have to see how well the numbers stand out. Some of the kits with invisible (silver, gold, white on shiny shirts) numbers the past few years have really pissed me off as a former stats keeper. I can just imagine what a pain in the ass they are to announcers and stats keepers.
Admittedly, Dortmund wore all black today at home against Hertha. However, as a Dortmund fan I'd like to see Columbus do more of a Dortmund look and incorporate some black and yellow stripes and move away from a monochrome look.
^^^This^^^ Incorporate more black on the yellow and more yellow on the black, but maintain both jerseys as mostly yellow and mostly black. (Kinda like putting some identifying red stripes on an otherwise white USA jersey.) [ducks] Monochrome zzzzzzzzzzz.
.@adidas is renewing its partnership with @MLS in a multi-year extension that is reportedly Adidas' largest investment in North American soccer. If nothing else, MLS kits are usually easy to find dirt cheap once they're replaced. I picked up a 2020 Rapids authentic for like 37 bucks last year on eBay.
So are they not doing the weekly kit matchups before the games this year? I generally liked how they would show what each team and refs were planning to wear.

Bummer they’re not doing the kit matchups this year- it was always good to have a visual to look at before the games. This year has already had some noticeably bad matchup, coincidentally. Vancouver and RSL both wore light colored kits in week one, which also saw Miami and Montreal in an odd matchup (doesn’t help that Montreal hoofed their primary for this year and apparently has only one option), and Dallas and Nashville both opened in their secondary kits has Chicago did in week two) at home. RSL and Seattle in week two was also tough on the eyes - I assume RSL went with yellow instead of red to avoid a red/green colorblind clash but apparently Colorado was okay wearing burgundy against Seattle in week one. Either way, just didn’t look great. On an individual club level, the all yellow kit for RBNY is not great- get some red shorts and maybe they can salvage it. Cincinnati’s primary actually looked better than I expected- the dark shorts/sleeves break up what otherwise might’ve been another boring monochrome look. I generally dislike white secondary jerseys almost as much as I dislike monochrome anything (and I especially disliked when half the league was monochrome white), but the Fire have done well the last few secondary kits of keeping things interesting. The last one was white but the jersey presented as light blue often due to the striping, and the new one has enough color popping in the shirt and the shirts to make it colorful and interesting. Was nice seeing it in person Saturday night but still wish clubs would wear their primary kit as often as possible, especially for a home opener.
Charlotte-Atlanta was really an aesthetically pleasing primary vs primary and rich color vs rich color matchup with Charlotte's blue vs Atlanta's red and black. More of that, please.
Almost all of the USL Championship jersey combos are available now. A few really nice ones in there, but the slideshows don't do a great job of identifying primary, secondary, and goalie options. https://www.uslchampionship.com/news_article/show/1264018
Lotta really nice jerseys in there. Took me a bit to figure out why there were four designs. Finally realized they were keeper kits.
1) Marketing wins over classic looks in SEA-LAFC. Sounders wear their Bruce Lee kits, making LAFC wear their alternates. 2) Those LAFC alternate kits are horrific. They look like what comes out of a baby’s nose sucker after the baby has a bad cold.
Can anyone who knows explain what in the h*ll Red Bulls were thinking when they made a yellow jersey. Yellow is nowhere in their colors!
