I was at that 2000 final in DC, 3 years before I started supporting MLS and DC United. I just happened to be a generic fan of soccer. And when I attended that game, I conned 2 or 3 of my friends to go with me. There may have been 39,000 people there, but the atmosphere was deader than a doornail. It was one of the reasons that I did not attend another MLS game until the preseason of 2004, when I went to the Charleston Cup in South Carolina. Having a home field crowd in a final is awesome. You don't like being an away team? Easy solution. Win more games in the regular season.
I speak mostly in jest. I was just at the PAC football final. It struck me how Vegas is a great place for an event. Lots of hotels within walking distance of the venue, and things to if you want to stay up for a few hours afterwards. Airport is nearby. Weather is predictably pleasant.
Speaking of weather, it'll be unseasonably warm here in Columbus on Saturday, but there may be some rain. High of 61, but a rising chance of rain as the afternoon/evening progresses. Not looking too bad right now (greatest chance of rain is overnight), but you never know.
For the 2024 season, 3252 will have all supporter privileges indefinitely suspended pending the completion of MLS and LAFC’s comprehensive review. What else happened besides flares? I'd also bet $1000 that MLS uses footage of this in promos for next season.
Just went for a walk in the Arena district (in Columbus), saw one LAFC nerd, when I asked where the boys were, he just looked at his phone.
Definitely going to be rain during the match today, though hopefully light enough that it won’t affect the match much.
How is apple's presentation so much better than fox (although they need to wipe that lens cover off on apple)?
I get that fox is desperately trying to fit pre-game in under 10 minutes with commercials, but they are missing all of the pomp around this including entrances onto the field and anthem by an Indie Rock Band.
Crew just needs to have a pop from outside here at some point. Trying to force the ball into Cucho a bit too much.
