🚨 Transfer Alert 🚨Chicago Fire FC has transferred forward Kacper Przybyłko to FC Lugano in the Swiss Super League.— Chicago Fire FC (@ChicagoFire) February 16, 2024 The Fire are...well, on fire this off-season.
The luxury of having sister clubs! More MLS owners should do this and doesn't necessarily need to be Euro clubs. Plenty of South American clubs.
Though I imagine it's a bit easier to convince a player to move to Lugano with the promise of continental football than it is to convince them to move to about 95% of other places.
It's much cheaper to live on the southern side of the lake. I remember driving from Zurich past Lugano on this beautiful four lane highway, with perfect paving, which suddenly became something not much better than a rutted track with gravel thrown on top, the first indication that we were in Italy. Edited: everything else in Italy makes up for their lack of Swiss quality highways.
More on this: Inter Miami cambió las condiciones de pago por Federico Redondo. Argumenta que las regulaciones financieras de MLS no le permite cumplir con lo que pide Argentinos y solo pueden gastar lo mismo que con Farías. Es decir, pasó de 8 a 5 millones.El pase no está caído todavía. De…— Gastón Edul (@gastonedul) February 16, 2024 I had said before I thought that he was being brought in because Farias went on the season injury list. What it sounds like is MLS stepped in and said that if you are replacing a player via that method then their total compensation (salary + associated fees) can't be more than the player being replaced. In this case Farias was a 5+ million dollar fee plus 525k a year in salary. Effectively they are treating the overall compensation for a cap restricted player (DP, U-22, etc) as the threshold and not the cap hit of the player.
MLS is counting the extra $3M Miami was willing to pay for Redondo. That's why they are saying they can only offer $5M for him now.
Sadly for the University of Colorado Buffaloes, athletes aren’t primarily interested in scenery. This disappoints me greatly.

There is video of Joseph Paintsil walking around Dignity Health Park's playing surface, so that is likely pretty much a done deal. He also wasn't in Belgium for the league game this weekend and I doubt he leaves there to fly to LA unless things were basically agreed (and the Galaxy haven't turned into Blackburn). The Redondo situation seems to be ongoing and isn't dead. Personally, think it will end up being something like a higher sell-on percentage which could net Argentinos more money in the future than the original deal would have been for. Also, Merlo reporting that Miami is working on bringing Franco Escobar in. Lastly, couple reports that Jonathan Rodriguez, 30 year old Uruguayan international currently playing for Club America, has offers from MLS sides. I'd say that might be Portland's DP target. There are only a few MLS teams in the market for a DP striker with my most likely ones being LAFC and Portland, and I'm leaning towards Portland.
Saga over. 🚨Federico Redondo es nuevo refuerzo del Inter Miami. NYCFC officially sign highly-rated Serbian youth int'l forward Jovan Mijatovic from Red Star Belgrade. Sources say fee around $8.6m. Nope. There was some stuff out there today apparently from some interviews he did. The best I can tell from the translations of the tweets is that he didn't move to River or Feyenoord over money, basically. It sounds like Liverpool (Uruguay not England) keep the 20% of the transfer fee that is supposed to go to the player to invest it in their academy. So on both deals neither of the buying clubs were willing to kick in that 20% into salary or signing bonus. Assuming a 15 million dollar transfer that is an extra 3 million. Nothing about Charlotte came up other than there are offers (unspecified teams) out there and that he needs to talk to his agent.
Obrigado, Gregore 🖤💗The club has transferred midfielder Gregore to Brazilian Serie A side Botafogo. We wish you the best, thank you for everything you did for the club on and off the pitch.Details: https://t.co/YXMqp0TBQi pic.twitter.com/Sya8Udf1ny— Inter Miami CF (@InterMiamiCF) February 19, 2024
According to this Barreal to Cruzeiro is a done deal. Loan with an option to buy. I don't think FCC wanted to loan him when they are about to play for the fist time in CCC and make a run in MLS. This is probably the player pushing for a move outside of MLS. I wish MLS takes notice of this and tries to make MLS more competitive. Players will likely stay in a league they deem competitive and being honest MLS isn't seen in that way yet by many players. Foreign players in the Brazilian league don't push for a move out (Foreigners are very rare sold to Europe in that league). They are fine there because of the competitive aspect that league has. This is what MLS needs and more of its players won't push or demand to be moved out after 1 or 2 seasons in MLS. It would be a big win for MLS when that happens. ℹ️ junto a @samuelvenancio— Germán García Grova (@GerGarciaGrova) February 20, 2024
